Topic: Seat Back brace pics/recommendations

Our drivers vary in size from Chewbacca to Papa Smurf. We mounted the seat on a slider system with rails that our cage builder installed. Does anyone have pics of a brace mechanism that is acceptable to brace the seat back when we have the seat forward for papa smurf while still allowing Chewbacca the room he needs to stretch out? We have a one piece racing seat that when all the way back is within 1/4" of the rollbar harness brace but when we slide it forward it is 6" or 7" away from the harness bar. Thoughts, suggestions, anyone gone through this before?

Thanks,

Corey

Yes. This:

If that tube isn't long enough you can replace it with a longer one. But we've used this model in our car to accommodate drivers ranging from 5'6" to 6'8" in the same race. Good luck.

Can't you just use the jack from your car?

I have one each of the IOport brace and the Autopower brace in my non-lemon track car. They're both good, but I prefer the Autopower brace because it is stronger and more easily adjustable.

The thing that I like about the IOPort brace is that for it to fail, the adjustable tube would either have to crush or the solid pin would have to fail, neither one of which is very likely. With the Autopower one, all that has to happen is that the single bolt has to not be locked down fully and the entire rod would slip out of position. That's why I chose the IOPort one for our team, but either one should pass tech.

Is this an acceptable harness brace design?
