Topic: Live video from Thunderhill!

We're going to give it a go!

If all goes well ( what could possibly go wrong? ) we will have an in-car camera mounted that will display the goings on with about a one turn delay.
Some of you saw us experimenting with this at TH during the last race.

It's pretty slick!

How are you addressing the abhorrent cell coverage for broadcasting?  Hard line?

I have Verizon...

Mobile hotspot for several computers in our pit.

We're using a Smartphone in the car that uploads directly to USTREAM.
We'll watch trackside.

Ahhhh..  One of those places where "There's a map for that" comes in handy. 

I kinda wish AT&T would put a cell tower right next to those big windmills.

Wow, this sounds pretty awesome.  Thought about trying to do this ourselves but didn't really have the time (vs getting the car working) to figure out what tech was needed.  What's in between the car and the computers with the upload link?

Smart phone in the car is the direct upload.

I debated doing that with WiFi finguring I could get coverage off a tall pole to most of the track but ran out of time... maybe for the next race smile  Or maybe for Dec since I think that track is pretty flat (then again I've never been there...).

We broadcasted about half the race from "Goin' for Broken" a few months back, also at TH.
We were limited by battery life of the Smart phone.

We have a 12v adapter now, so we should be able to broadcast the whole race both days.

Good so far.
Better today.

We broadcasted the first two stints without any problems.
Found a camera issue.

Should have it all figured out now!

The video is also saved on UStream for later viewing if you can't watch live.

You have to sign up for a ustream account before you can post to the chat window.

They used to allow anonymous chatters but not any more.
