Think of the totally awesome profets you could sell your car for after the race!

Your 15-20 year old $500 car would easily sell for $8k-10k, or atleast that would be the US street value of the cigars you would get in trade. Lemons might finally make financial sense.

and how is any of that relevant anyway?

Umm, the Declaration of Independence was printed in German before it was printed in English. There was such a huge German influence in America, we almost joined Germany's side in World War I.

Spain settled most of the southwest, and France the south. The English are just really good at bureaucracy, and took control of the Spanish and French territories.

cite, please.  the document was translated into German and German-language broadsides were printed, but the document was drafted by Jefferson and the committees in English.  after all, it was directed to King George, who spoke English as his first language.

and i thought we were talking about the formation of the government, not the original settlement of territories outside the original colonies.

nevertheless, i still don't see how any of this is relevant to Lemons or any hint that somehow the founders intended for English to be the language of the country.

I think EVERYONE who is going to this race MUST BE REQUIRED to make their LeMon into a boat. Any car NOT made into a boat prior to BS inspection will not be allowed on track. Maybe even Float test them...

by the Founding Fathers obvious lack of intent and of course your arguement to the original draft language of intent, it is apparent that The Declaration of Independance was in fact written in English.  so now that we have solved that mystery, i ask this.  Geez Scoob, should 'ahMericans speak ehnglish?

tell me Mike, conservative or liberal?  constitutionalist or socialist?  gonna be in Jupiter FLA on New Years Eve?

Rednecks don't need no stink'in ferinaires tell'n us whats to think.  learn to speak the language, pay yoh damn taxes and shut the fu** up.  only good Cubans is a Cuban in my humidor.  smile

truth be told a small but vocal minority placed undue pressure on a track owner forcing a change to a pre-determined event theme.  sucks really, but obviosly the marketing effort is working to some extent.  at least "a" cuban heard about the race.  apparently he is too high brow to race with us, but hey fuck-em.  we don't need no stink'n Lemans ....blah....blah.....blah drivers.

maybe Tony Stewart will bring his team out for the weekend.  smile

The icon I use?  It came from this:

Which a co-worker made of a pretty funny picture of my face.

I just bought a red car for Lemons.  It might be time.

working on it.  by which i mean "trying to convince the wife that driving down to my parents' place in Ft Myers for the week and then me going across the state to race on NYE is a good idea and will be fun for her."

anyway, i hope to be there, if only so i have a reason to add one of the original CG patches to my suit.  but if i can't make it i will be sure to fume in jealousy of all you bastids having a better NYE than me.  smile

From the article:

But several prominent figures in the South Florida racing community reached out to Lamm to decry the use of Guevara's image, which they call as incendiary as a swastika or a Rebel flag.

Apparently the reporter didn't do any research on Lemons at all.

I can't really find any images of cars with swastikas on them, but I'm sure some German-themed heap has done it at some point.  Plus, Japanese Zeroes, the Hammer and Sickle, and I'm pretty sure one car showed up as a Messerschmidt once.

Re: Using Che Guevara image riles some Cuban Americans

Yes, I realize that it says "Halloween" on the site. The newspaper called our cars "halloween floats." "Floats" implies a parade. Halloween is not typically (at least in Florida) the time of year for a parade. Hay rides, maybe, but not a fucking parade. neutral
