Umm, the Declaration of Independence was printed in German before it was printed in English. There was such a huge German influence in America, we almost joined Germany's side in World War I.
Spain settled most of the southwest, and France the south. The English are just really good at bureaucracy, and took control of the Spanish and French territories.
cite, please. the document was translated into German and German-language broadsides were printed, but the document was drafted by Jefferson and the committees in English. after all, it was directed to King George, who spoke English as his first language.
and i thought we were talking about the formation of the government, not the original settlement of territories outside the original colonies.
nevertheless, i still don't see how any of this is relevant to Lemons or any hint that somehow the founders intended for English to be the language of the country.
by the Founding Fathers obvious lack of intent and of course your arguement to the original draft language of intent, it is apparent that The Declaration of Independance was in fact written in English. so now that we have solved that mystery, i ask this. truth be told a small but vocal minority placed undue pressure on a track owner forcing a change to a pre-determined event theme. sucks really, but obviosly the marketing effort is working to some extent. at least "a" cuban heard about the race. apparently he is too high brow to race with us, but hey fuck-em. we don't need no stink'n Lemans ....blah....blah.....blah drivers.
