Topic: Lemons has affected our team...

After running our first outing at YeeHaw this year, I think that some of my teammates and I have forever been changed.  Every car I pass on the road, I consider for entry into Lemons.  Here is an *almost* verbatim transcript of some text messages between myself a teammate this afternoon:

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

You're still looking at Supra Turbos? Meh. Find a K-Car turbo!

The worst part of this disease is when you start trying to apply lemony fixes to your road vehicles.

My truck has a soup can strapped to the exhaust, a blob of JB Weld on the power steering pump, and I have half a mind to throw away the troublesome metal shift linkage and replace it with wood.

K-Car Turbos are fine, but we prefer Chevy Sprint Turbos.

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

Every day I walk through the company parking lot and look at all the excellent candidates for Lemons.   Some of them look perfect for the job, but I haven't been able to convince the owners that this is a worthy cause.   :-(

My neighbor has a sweet Merkur XR4Ti parked in his driveway.  He drives it maybe once every two or 3 months so I am slowly warming him up to the idea of Lemons.

.... Just out of curiosity, you have one of the Dodge/Plymouth minivans with the K-car turbo mill come through yet?

I would love to see an XR4Ti running Lemons!  Good luck.  Be sure to post lots of pics of the build!

I too have started seeing Lemons potential in many things, and occasionally even seek them out. Here's a big crop of Lemons, ready for harvest.

I always wanted one of these in high school with a V8 in it.

Probably glad I never did it though...

Yes!  The "Mysteries Inc Racing" team has run a turbovan in a few of the West Coast events...and they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Someone offered me one for free just two days ago.  Appealing and terifying.  I would have to have a long talk with the Turbo Schnitzel guys first.

I was walking around Coffee & Cars with Judge Scott today noticing all the cars models that have run Lemons. 924s, Jettas, Integras, C4s, Firebirds & Mustangs.

At one point we saw a Model T and I mentioned how I saw a frame for $400. He told me I'm a true glutton for punishment.

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

Rumor is a Model T will be at Buttonwillow.

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

Jay and I shared an entertaining conversation during the Houston race about running a Tin Lizzie. Hypothetically, of course.

It's just a matter of time before we see a steam powered car at Lemons.

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

It takes a steam powered car about 45 minutes to get up to, well, steam, then it only runs for 15-20 minutes. Sounds like a Lemons car to me.

I wonder how you will shovel coal into an open flame while running off in Diamond's Edge; all while sitting on a giant pressure vessel.

Re: Lemons has affected our team...

pretty sure you can't have steam in Lemons because the kill switch wouldn't work... but your idea intrigues me and i wish to learn morehttp://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-ash1/v121/189/94/9026996/n9026996_34189324_661.jpg
