VW kit car.

Nerf bars? I know it's fiberglass  and all, but are they ok now?

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

those are not nerf bars, they are bumpers, as they do not extend beyond the body line. for safety, as if we were to take a hit in the front, the fiberglass fenders would fail, and possibly cause a flip, the steel "bumpers" should prevent that scenario.

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

Agreed that it's better safe than sorry.

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

Awesome! Are you dragging it to Chicago as well? Or does that depend on the outcome at Gingerman?

Better tie that thing down before it floats away.  (Seriously though, how much does it weigh?)

Also, those look like modified Chevy truck mirrors...

I have no idea but we have over 120' of roll bar tubing in it

Actually they are off of the Snoopy van

I think I found the one car at the race that is more dangerous than ours.

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Well, assuming it's 1.5 x .134, there's about 250 pounds right there.  I can't wait to see this car next weekend.

Now that's a Lemons car! E36 teams, take note.

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

I gotta ask!  Why would a VW powered car need a big ol' radiator?

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

its a free wasserboxer out of a 84 Vanagon w/leaking head gaskets(replaced of course) complete with a Chevy alternator an a homemade intake with wood spacers, and a 500 holly carb, rad is also out of the Snoopy van as well as the oil cooler. Heck if time would allow I just might of put the engine in as well.

The only thing worse than an aircooled typeIV engine, is a half liquid cooled typeIV.

Good luck!

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

I'd love to see it in person. I'm planning to bring the '77 Lancia Scorpion to Chicago, but in typical TPB fashion, I haven't even started building it yet. At dusk last night I dragged it up to behind the garage, but it was too dark to work on it, and I had to go to work today, and didn't get home until dusk again. I forsee some all-nighters in the near future...

Yes, but in the interest of marital harmony after last night's LeMons-building discussion, I'm not inclined to say the word, no matter how badly your assistance is needed...

Re: Morrow's Auto goes foreign!!!

Oh man, a Vanagon engine in a bright pink kit car? Instant Lemons Legend!

My advice: don't run it during practice on Friday. It might have, you know, reliability issues on the track. Or, what the hell, it might run like a train all weekend!
