Topic: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

Hey guys; The Buick LeSabreboat Dragon survived yet another race this weekend (BARELY) and I just wanna say thank you all for making it an excellent event. Everything from Welding tips to free food to Track Courtesy to the fair and personable Track Workers; This time around it all stitched itself together for an extremely fun time!

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

We second that Serj. Thanks to all the teams for putting on a good show and offering help when our junker crapped out.
Thanks to the organizers, corner workers and cheers of excitement from spectators at T11 when I locked them up and had to use the pit exit as runoff.

Special shout out to Team Car Dorks for letting us use their flex disc "Guibo" gear.

We'll see everybody in Joilet!

Thanks to the Bucksnort guys for letting us use their head gasket for the E30.  The head gasket replacement was a success.  Unfortunately, the engine was too far gone.  Just under two hours and their goes (yet another) E30 motor toast from an earlier coolant hose rupture.

We still had a blast...and now must scramble to get a replacement engine in less than two weeks!

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

I had a blast too!  Great to see all the teams helping each other out.  The Red Rocket guys brought us all their fuel over after they blew their motor up and offered to let us borrow anything we needed to keep "Legs" running.  Ends up while they were at the bar watching Michigan State trounce Michigan, we had to borrow one of their brake calipers after bending a pad and shattering a piston in our caliper.

Sounds like I wasn't the only one that blew turn 11, lucky for me, that's when the brakes went, and I had some run-off room (aka pit in...).

It was out first race, and we're incredibly thrilled with our 8th place finish.  Most of all, though, it was a blast racing with everyone out there - everyone seemed to play fair and give adequate space when being passed.  It made for some great racing.  I personally had a blast racing the VW quantum and the yellowish green RX-7 late Saturday afternoon.

Can't wait to get out to another race.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

Great Race, we had a blast!  Awesome weather too.  Gingerman will be getting the bill from our less experienced drivers who mowed their lawn.  You are welcome sirs.

That did hurt our standings though.  We got 29th with our mystery motor changed the night before and tires from 1990.

Special thanks to the number 66 team for helping get us through tech with our goofy roll cage.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

What a blast!  Everyone on our team loved it at Gingerman again.  I had a good running with the "Legs" and "Lebowski" Neons on both Sunday and Saturday.  Can't wait to do it again at Joliet!  Hope to see a lot of you there.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

I had a great time as well.  Thanks for all the clean driving, I had a blast on track.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

We had a blast as well...great track, great facilities, great weather and great people.

It's true what they say:  police package crown vics really are indestructible.  given the amount of metal in our oil on friday, we were expecting to get maybe an hour out of the engine.  little did we know that the bearings would become the least of our worries.

thanks to all of the teams that wandered by to look at the car and the wing, and to all the teams who offered advice, assistance, encouragement, and tools...special thanks to the anonymous guy who recommended "motor honey" for the bearings, as it seemed to work like a charm.  sorry to those teams we splashed fuel on in T2.

and sorry to Gingerman for all the oil stains and piles of oil dry we left behind.

This seems to be a significant problem for crown vics using the stock tank. At 3 races now (Sears Pointless, Broken and Arse-Sweat) I've seen crown vics spilling fuel out of their fuel tank filler caps while on track. At Sears it was GALLONS coming out of one on the carousel, I think it was.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

Though bitter sweet with both front hubs gone (wheels flopping) and a blown engine that refused to die completely, and finally getting the boot with a new and unexpected fuel leak, we still had a lot of fun and had some good racing trading spots back and forth with a handful of cars all stint long in some cases.... See ya next time (Lebowski Neon)..

we realized we were heating the tank on Saturday, and the stock venting couldn't keep up.  the stock dual exhaust runs over the axle and down in front of the tank.  once we cut off the mufflers so the exhaust was away from the tank, the heating and pressure problems went away (sounded better, too!).  but we leaked again around the filler cap area after we stopped running the tank between 5 gallons and empty.  we thought it was a loose cap, but maybe the filler neck design needs to be addressed.  thanks for the tip.

No, we are all done for the year.  The budget's have been stretched to the limit for the year, and we need the winter to recover.  We will be Gingerman in the spring.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

Booby Prize racing had a great time. I personally had a great time racing with Team Reynolds style and Laughing Clown Malt Liquor. This really was a great race and Gingerman is a great race track. I hope to go back again.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

This race had the fewest total penalties of any Lemons race I've worked, and the Whiny Racer Quotient (WRQ) was incredibly low. Good work, Michigan racers!

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

Thanks to everyone at the track for the awesome time.  We had the #46 nissan 200sx and had a blast till our clutch failed.  Thanks to swiss racing for their help with some tools and knowledge.   Hope that Chicago is just as good.

Great time everyone!  Skid Marks Racing Neon #56 once agan succombed to a mechanical failure, but we had a great time for the seven or so hours we got to run.  Special thanks to Legs #69 for offering up some of the parts that we might have needed to get the car back on the track on Sunday afternoon.  We'll find a way to get it back together for Autobahn.

See you guys then.

You are very welcome. We welded 5 cages to get them through safety tech. The fuel pump we drove to get in grand rapids wasn't even the problem. Apparently letting a car sit outside in Chicago for 5 years without moving allows for quite a lot of nasty stuff to develop in the gas tank.

Heading out to the garage to pull the tank and get it flushed for the Joliet Race.

Also I really enjoyed a few loosing battles with a number of drivers such as the saab900 which eventually out powered us and got away.

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

I wasn't sure about whether I'd like the track when driving during test n tune, but damn that's a fun track!

As usual, everyone was awesome.  The driving was mostly clean, and if I made any rude moves while on track, I apologize.  I try to leave room and not dive bomb folks.  I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

There were so many teams that we ran with (Booby Prize w/ the flux capactitor disgusied as a giraffe, Santa, legs, Hot Wheels,  the MR 2 w/ the pinup, and some more that I'm not thinking of).  it was great having so many evenly matched cars to battle with.

Silent But Deadly Racing-  Ricky Bobby's Laughing Clown Malt Liquor Thunderbird , Datsun 510, 87 Mustang (The Race Team Formerly Known as Prince), 72 Pinto Squire waggy, Parnelli Jones 67 Galaxie, Turbo Coupe Surf wagon.(The Surfin Bird), Squatting Dogs In Tracksuits,  Space Pants!  Roy Fuckin Kent and The tribute to a tribute to a tribute THUNDERBIRD/ SUNDAHBADOH!

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

I really hope to see lots of you guys back at Autobahn, if not competing then visiting! I know I muscled the LeSabre Dragonboat through a few tight spots so I apologize if i scared a few of you. Anyone get some video of us haulin' tail?

Re: Gingerman Rocked! (Detroit Bull-Oil GP ThankYous)

We had a great time! The car performed great after spending half the day saturday fixing fuel issues caused by our rusty tank. The fuel will live on through a team members lawn mower. Had a great time hamming it up with some familiar faces while making new friends along the way. Personally I will not be at Autobahn, but the car will.
