Re: Lemons South Fall. Who is in?
In my opinion, the Lemons South races are the most fun of all. Counting the days!

WTF? you need to bring a glove next time and smack that person in the face with it.
"how DARE you, sir!"
That's another Southern Tradition that doesn't get enough use west of the Mississippi.
Team Saab Story returns for another chance to pressure bleed gallons of brake fluid through the finest of Swedish slave cylinders.
We are also heading up from Florida.. Look like Jay should just go ahead and get Daytona International Speedway to let us have a weekend on the tri-oval with all of the Sunshine based teams.
Murilee we look forward to another weekend of mime our crime!
Gotta agree with the Daytona idea....the banking makes the track self-cleaning!
Yea I think I would go with Sebring over daytona. I want to turn the wheel both ways.
Plus Daytona is stupid money to rent. However there is the Beach and more things to do than in Sebring.
Id be happy with any event in FL. so I wouldnt have to drive 9 hours.

It ain't cheap. We rented Daytona 2 years ago and it was ~ $45,000 for 2.5 days. Lots of stipulations (like if you are thinking about going on the 31° banking in the turns, forget about it.) and they changed things on us at the last minute and said "oh well, if you don't like it, too bad."
Local business couldn't have cared less about our piddly under 2,000 people event and the (evidently minor) money it was bringing in to them, either. We felt like they thought they were doing us a favor by letting us be there.

I find it nearly impossible to believe that any France-family operation would have an exaggerated sense of self-importance, value, and/or entitlement.
Or maybe I was taking away the wrong message from Smokey Yunick's "Best Damn Garage in Town" book.
Hey judges, just curious is there some reason that the BS inspections will be from 6-9pm this fall? My team and I had some guesses, but we were just wondering if there was some other reason besides the combination of swealtering mid-day heat and black robes?
Still haven't heard our fate yet...looking forward to it

They said that in the spring, too, but BS ran simultaneously with tech.

Really? You should have last week. Better send Jay an email...
Team Police Brutality is in! We gotta get the ol' Lincoln fixed up for this one. Last time, we smoked a set of ceramic pads down to the backing plates in 5 hours! Time for some serious plasma-cutter dieting on that thing...
Any update on the official # of cars accepted to race?

I haven't heard since the dues deadline, but last count before that was about 155 I think.
It all depends on who pays and how many are deadbeats. Jay and Nick will have a pretty good idea in a week or two once all the checks are received.
Wow. 155 cars.
I need to revisit our bumper support/reinforcement plan.

If every name on the "manage your team" drop down has been accepted, I count 149. That is a lot of cars.
Anyone know what the record turn out is at a Lemons event? Also, anyone know which event has the longest course?

The spring event at CMP had 98 cars IIRC, but I don't know if that was the largest or not. 155 cars would be too bad if we were allowed to run the full course at CMP which is about 2 miles. On the short course that we have been running...it will be very tough.
In the spring race, the applicants numbered 115 or so and i think all were accepted. 95 or so actually took the green flag. So while I have no idea how many were let in, we do know there was a waiting list, and not all 155 got accepted. Assuming a 20% dropout rate, most everyone who really wants to be in the race will probably get a shot.

We are on the wait list. This is worst than waiting for SANTA! i keep checking my email hoping to get in. We have faith!!
144 still on the list of entries! Are all those teams accepted or are some on the waiting list as well? Man if all 144 all show up there may be a chance to use the long course! Granted maybe 10% don't pay and maybe another 10% won't have their act together and can't finish the car in time which will leave us with 116. Eh, still sounds like the short course to me.

I've read before that the Lemons crew shoots for 100 cars per race, minus dropouts/no shows/breakdowns. The entry list is just that; a list of the teams that applied for the race. Don't quote me though, I'm no expert.

Where did you see 144?

I counted here. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/registration/
But I was using my fingers and toes so I may be on or two dozen off.
Team Drinking and Driving is in, first time at a Lemons, got the car mostly put together, still working on brewing enough beer for everyone.
My understanding was that it would be a shortened course. Could they do the full course if there are enough entries? Given the nature of our crapbox, a shortened course where we can't get this thing going too fast might be in everyone's best interests, especially mine.
