100 cars on the 1/4 mile legends track.  maybe on the dirt track?  gotta spice it up somehow

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

They do have a 2.25 mile road course configuration:

I see some serious speed going into turn 3 if no chicane is used.....

I can hear Allen Bestwick on the radio now calling play-by-play:

"There's trouble in turn one!  And two, and three, and four, and five, and six, and seven, and eight, and nine, and ten, and eleven, and twelve!!!!  There is a blow up doll on the track in the middle of the back straight, and someone lost a La-Z-Boy on the dogleg at the start/finish line!  We are gonna need about a ton of speedy-dry to clean up all the oil that has been dropped....  And they have not even dropped the green flag yet!!!"

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

How long of a track would it be if you connected turns 5 & 12, Maybe a mile? 'Bout what CMP is....

Here's a good pic.

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

Road course looks interesting to say the least. How about let's just do the tri-oval deal. Jay could add cones in turn #4 to slow us down some ?

I wondered that also, the thing is how do you incorporate the pit road area?

Getting into the pits might be a pain...

We might be yellow, but at least we are slow
I'm a WINNER!

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

I guess you could maybe run the infield course counter clockwise, connecting 5 and 12 on the race track. Then you could come out of #6 headed for turn #5 but take a hard right down pit road, then after pitting maybe drive down to the end of pit road and make a hard left back on to the outer racetrack then merge in between #5 and # 12,  just my 2 cents

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

Not sure I'm enamored by Charlotte.  It's neat to have a NASCAR track and all, but it looks like a car eater and not a great road course.  Has anyone here ever driven it before?

I've run it on iRacing.  You can come over and try it out if you want.  Aside from some neat elevation changes in 10 and 11 there's not much to it.

Re: Charlotte Motor Speedway

I have driven the road course lay out for a couple HPDE. You run about 3/4 of the big track and drop to the infield just after the flag stand. The infield is narrow, bumpy and crappy asphalt. The big track part will be good for high HP cars and top end. Lots of room to pass on the big track and lots of concrete all around. The infield is tight with limited passing space (on the pavement anyway).

Our team is going to pass on this race but might come down and watch (unless the track wants to bone the spectators). If you don't have a HANS, this would be a good event to make that investment.

Should be interesting.
