In all of my web searches, there is a HUGE gap in 13 inch tires. I find treadwear of 100 like the Toyo R888, then the next best is a treadwear of 380, what the ????
Any help?
Can we run the Toyo R888, R1 or RA1 with some penalty on a Triumph Spitfire??
The old HTR200 is probably still your best bet for a 13" street tire.
I'd consider having somebody like Diamond Racing do you up a couple sets of 4x3.75 14 or 15" wheels so that you can run some better and more readily available tires.
As long as there are available 13" tires, you're not likely to get a waiver to run race tires. So far, they've only done that for 10" tires.
Yeah, what the heck, we can deal with the HTR200. It's not like we are a contender for the win. I am use to racing with Hoosier TD and the Toyo R888 but then again my 1964 Spitfire is a real race car. We are in this to finish and have fun.
I have a set of HTR200s on 13" rubber that we pulled off the 323 for sale, where are you located?

We raced on 480's at our first event! After the whole race on the same set....at 100 degrees ambient......they were hardly worn at all!!!
1. Try and find a set of 14" or 15" rims that fit your car. Yeah I realize that's probably impossible given the 4 on 3-3/4 bolt pattern. But you can buy them new since wheels and tires are not in the $500. And its racing you need the best tires you can get for that, um, fast, um, Spitfire.

2. Go find some guy with an old Lotus Elite/Elcat/Esprit and borrow his magnesium or aluminum wheels. Plenty of those sitting around in garages, not running.
3. Find a set of 14" universal fit slotted mag wheels, They are like the ones in #4, but have slotted holes and steel pieces that go in the holes
4. Get 4-8 of these wheels and have the holes re-drilled for your Triumph. There are usually some of these for sale in most cities in the USA. This would probably be the cheapest and the easiest. I think you can find these in 15" also, just look around for Datsun 240/260 wheels.

Oddly (or not so oddly) enough, magpie was a major contributer to the build of the Mr. Bean Mini so knows all about the 10" wheel thing!

The tires are brand new, never even mounted the wheels on the car.
How wide are those 215/50/13 tires on a 6" rim? I was planning on getting a set of 14" rims for the Chevette as I was thinking there wasn't anything out there for 13" tires. This sounds like a far better idea though if we don't have to buy rims.

They are 8.6" wide and will fit on a 6" wide rim no problem.

I'm hoarding a set of old A-008 175/50-13's good for the mini but kinda small for the rumph. And treadwear 190...
The HTR200 13" tires appear to be discontinued. I just bought the last 215/50/13s that Tirerack had.
If anyone else has suggestions on a 13" tire with a treadwear of less than 800, please post it here.
Otherwise I guess I'll have to build giant stupid flares or turn the 4CV into a donk. I'm an unhappy camper.
We couldn't find any and had to step up to a 14" wheel. Lots of options there. Wheels that fit are a problem though.
Same here. The options in 13" tires are very limited. We stepped up to 15".
Stepped up to 15" from a 13" tire as well.
