Topic: So, Who's coming to PBIR, and what are you Bringing?

Hello all. The title says it all. This will be myself and our team's first Lemons race. We'll be running a 73' VW Super Beetle. Can't wait! Who's gonna be there?

Team Magnum, PU will be there (our 5th race) bringing our POS '89 Prelude Si #8.

Don't worry, once it's dark you'll be able to spot our car from space.  smile

When I first inquired w/Lemons about the # of expected entries for this race, I was told 100-125 cars. I'm thinking this would be a bumper to bumper traffic jam for a Long time if that many are starting. Any word on how many entries?

I think entries are in the 60's.  We'll be there with our Escort GT.R  Mk III (our 8th race)

Team Megalodon will bring its J30 for event #3 but this will our first Lemons race.

From the "manage your team" portion of the entry form page there's almost 100  teams on that list, how do we know if that is the real number of cars showing up?

I think the Drop down list on the teams page lists Every team thoughout the entire Lemons races  in the country. I'm amazed at how far some of these guys are traveling to make these races. It must be worth it.

If anyone else is running an air-cooled VW, and needs spare parts- Let me know.I've got a shop with a 28-year collection of them.

I have been watching that list grow after every PBIR email was sent, if that was a list of ALL Lemons events it would be hundredS of teams not just 100

Infinniti is correct.  That list is the teams who originally applied for the race.  The actual attendance will be less than that, though, as some teams blow up their cars or change their minds and decide not to attend.  In my experience it has usually been around 70-80% of the list that actually attends the race.  Lemons HQ will know the exact number after the payment deadline passes...

I just counted and there are currently 95 teams registered. 

If I were to wager a guess I'd expect around 80 to show up for the green flag.

BlackSheep Racing will be there with our Z31 300ZX.  This will be our first Lemons race since Southern Discomfort so we are itching to get back out there, 

Hmmm...   .6th of a mile long straight and no track lighting.  Should be a fun start and finish to the race.

The track actually Does have some lighting. Mostly on the .6  mile straight. I'm wondering if the Lemons staff will install any tire Chicanes on the long straight to slow everyone down a bit.. It's pretty narrow and woulld make for a pretty tight chicane.

chicanes cause more problems than they're worth. this was fairly quickly learned at thunderhill and especially CMP. in those examples the racing got better and less accidents occurred. the CMP one people basically had to line up, and some impatient ones/stupid/ballsy ones would rush up the side of the line and wedge in. A former driver of mine insisted our vic and the other team's Z car could fit through...  black flag for both!

The Grim Reaper Racing V-6 Mustang will be there. Our first Lemons race outside of CMP. As for beer, it is just like your American Express card, don't leave home without it. We also discovered that Crown Royal and Coke works well to but takes up less space in the trailer.

Using a chicane is the worst idea ever.  Serj is right, it causes way more problems than it solves.  Problems start when too many cars are trying to cram into one tight spot, not when they are going fast in a straight line.
