Awesome news!!
(how's he getting back?)
i think this thread should be his new title. just replace the question mark with an exclamation!
Congrats Spank! You now have a great story to tell your grandkids someday. "When I was your age we didn't have flying cars. I had to drive a 40 year old French car 2800 miles - UPHILL - IN THE SNOW..."
(how's he getting back?)
Hey Spank !!! wanna drive to SD ?
Congratulations, Spank!
Woot! Spank, you made it! Now, race it, yank the cage, and pull the safety gear. Then, find an appropriate ancient clunker, and strap the cage to the roof. Then, epic road trip part deaux can begin, back to San Diego with your next IOE candidate!
Someone needs to give him a '64 Corvair rampside to drive back!

Or a second ($3000) Mr. Bean car

Or go Slant six

But really - he's got so much stuff in the back/side/front yard just WAITING to be the next IOE crap-can... Megan would probably lock him in the trunk of a "new" disaster (Though what he tends to like has so much rust you can kick your way out of a trunk)
Maybe the new prize for end-of-season Judge's Choice is to keep the Citroen for a year?
No, that's been done already. Like me, he only does what has never been done. We need to find him a cheap old beater that runs, and chip in to buy it for him. I will donate $50 towards it. I'm sure the others on here can cover the rest. What's the Citroen worth in parts/scrap?
I like the rampside, but the engine is out - perhaps a season-ender group project of build-it 'til it runs? I'd chip in... $$ anyhow...
...and as Eyesore found, it looks like ANY "junk" car is worth more than $500 in Florida. What gives?
i think the IOE winner and the Distance winner should swap cars!!!
har har har! that solves the issue of Eyesore's cheaty-ass Miata, and gives Spank a faster ride home.
The Good Jay Givith and the Good Jay Takith.
So who's willing to loan me some racing gear so I can take the Schitroen on the track at PBIR? I wear a jumbo melon helmet.

Here, drive a little:

You can always tow the Citroen home.

Hell, they'd have it done in time to race.

That's a sweet E21. The body appears to be in great shape.
I don't think he could drive it home, and it'd probably need an exemption (or make a helluva pace car)...but:

I've got a CBR engine laying around that would *love* to sit in that sucker....damn.

Spank can trade one French Car for another!
http://orlando.craigslist.org/ctd/2082979813.html
I actually posted that for Judge Phil in the Rally Thread to pick up while he's in Florida so we can get our terrible french cannonball race underway!
If Spank needs to he can leave the car at my place in FL. I already have 3 citroens here,. So he can use it for his east coast races. OR have it sent back later.
We can figure something out.
spoke with Mike last night, he hopes to be at the track around mid-afternoon today.
I forgot to ask him, where is the fuel filler neck on his Citroen? I am not sure my race fuel jugs will fit his fuel filler neck. I can go pick up some regular gas cans before I leave for the track, but do I also need to get a long funnel? Anybody know?
From reading this blog, it seems like he has volunteers showing up with Citroen parts, so I am not worrying about that. I have duct tape, jack, jackstands, plywood, worktables, trailer, EZ-UP, generator, ext cords, little compressor, air tanks, air hose, lights, a cooler and a couple empty spare coolers, 16ft Haulmark, mini bike and pit cart for hauling fuel jugs, hand truck for dragging stuff to pit lane. I will bring leftovers like folding chairs, rags, paper towels, buckets, drain pan, hand cleaner, min spirits, brake clean, garbage bags, coffeepot. I have a bigger list around here somewhere, but that's all I can think of right now. I will bring a tiny assortment of hand tools, but Citroen experts need to bring any special tools, or let me know if something else is needed. I will be at my shop until noon. To avoid spambots the phone number is 2379936, area code is 772.
Mike says I don't need to bring the engine hoist, he thinks the clutch will last the race.

[edit] probably better to put in my cell number than the shop number. Duh.
It has a fuel cell where the trunk floor used to be. A LONG funnel would be a very good idea.
OK, that's fine. My setup has a big dump can funnel with a long clear hose attachment, like four feet long. We can trim it if its too long.
thanks!
