Re: ID your American Iron
I got 9 of 19. I am amazed I got that many right considering I was raised on Citroen DS's. There wasn't a sphere on any of these things!!
Re: ID your American Iron
I just followed engine colors, sticker colors and looked for other context clues. Got just over half right.
Re: ID your American Iron
I only got 13 out of 19, and I'm still pissed about the Chevy 348-vs-409 one. Who the hell can tell the difference between those two?
Re: ID your American Iron
I got all 19 right.

Re: ID your American Iron
11/19. Mostly by contextual clues, dizzy location, valve covers and exhaust manifolds.
Engine colors and whether the engine bay was body color or black can also help...
The supercharged ones were fun.

Re: ID your American Iron
I got 10 right. I don't think I did too bad considering most of them were out of production when I was born.
Re: ID your American Iron
13/19
Re: ID your American Iron
17/19. Admittedly I got some of them by looking at context clues of the car surrounding the engine.
Wait, I have never owned a car with a carburetor yet I beat Murilee?!
Re: ID your American Iron
12/19. Though I don't feel too bad about that, really. The Pontiac engines stood out like beacons to me.

I got 12 out of 19 and my nephew Justin got 17 out of 19
Re: ID your American Iron
13 out of 19 but mostly because I talked myself out of the correct answer. I got all the tri-power mills which was pretty sweet.
Re: ID your American Iron
I only got 10 right. I truly am dumber than I thought...
Re: ID your American Iron
7 of 19 right.
Re: ID your American Iron
I only got a couple of them right, but I'm a computer geek.

19 out of 19. The engine colors did it for me, Olds Gold, Pontiac Blue, etc...

Re: ID your American Iron
Just so everyone knows, the 'pure guesswork because I'm foreign and don't have a clue unless it's a Vauxhall Nova or a Ford Escort MkII' method will result in a score of 12 out of 19!

19/19. Which is absolutely remarkable, because I had not even the slightest clue. At all. I just went with what 'felt right'.
