Cons: It's an RV genset, which means it was intended to start off the RV;s battery and sip from the RV's gas tank. Those are going to be factors in portability, too, unless you mount it on a trailer or cart.
It looks like it is probably from the 80's. 600 hours is worse than 1200 hours on a generator that old. They need to run under load every now and then to keep things operating.
It probably weighs a lot.
Pros: To get 60Hz electricity, cheaper generators run at 3600 RPM. This one uses twice as much generator "stuff" to run at half the speed. An 1800 RPM generator is MUCH quieter than whatever you get from the hardware store. It will also last a lot longer since it isn't running anywhere near WFO all the time.
It is designed to be air cooled in an enclosed (ventilated) space.
It is designed for longevity. My Devilbiss 5250W portable generator has a 10 HP lawnmower engine that holds about a quart of oil and doesn't use a filter. My 6500W Onan holds three quarts and uses a spin-on filter(the yellow thing in your picture). The Onan is 23 years older, but probably will still be working long after the Devilbiss bites the dust.
