Topic: Tire Question

I just got some 16x7.5 wheels and I am trying to figure out what tires to put on them.  I see that everyone likes the Star Specs but they only go up to 225/50/R16.  Would it be worth it to go to the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s so I could run 245/50/R16?

Re: Tire Question

I would go with the wider tire, what's the treadwear of the Firestones? Although 245's on a 7.5" rim might be a little too wide. But this is Lemons so WTH?

Re: Tire Question

According to tire rack the 245s fit on a 7-8.5 inch rim and the treadwear is 320.  While typing this out I realized the my car is a Volvo 245 so I have to go with the 245s now smile

Re: Tire Question

Of course! What was I thinking?

Well as long as the 320 TW doesn't get greasy as they get hot, they should work fine.

Re: Tire Question

A good max performance tire in 225/50 will be faster than a hard 245.  225 will fit better on a 7.5 too.

We're going to run 245/45/16 Hankook RS2 on 16x8 at the next race.  If these were still available, they'd be ideal...but they're not.

I wish the Kumho XS were legal...265/45/16 would go nice on the 16x9.5 I have.  Tread wear is too low, unfortunately.
