Topic: Fire Extinguisher system

I could have sworn this was addressed in the rules, but there's nothing there now.

Rather than the little 2.5lb extinguisher, we've got an on-board fire suppression system that was donated to our team.  It's more than 2.5lb, it'll be hard mounted to the car and it has a release for the driver as well as one on the outside of the car for a corner worker to pull if needed.

Is this an acceptable substitute for the little carry bottle?  I can't imagine why it wouldn't be....but the rules don't say there are any exceptions to the carry bottle and I'd hate to get this thing mounted only to find out at CMP that we're screwed.

Re: Fire Extinguisher system

With only a week to go, I'd suggest emailing Jay or Nick directly with this question. Cheers David.

Re: Fire Extinguisher system

For anyone wondering, we got a yes...then no.

Installed systems are very much favored by the tech guys (for obvious safety reasons), but you still have to have a portable bottle in the car for brake fires and stuff that the nozzles can't reach.

I'm off to find a metal quick release (hopefully) today.
