Topic: CMP - Ready to go!??!!

We're putting the finishing touches on our Milano.  As you can see from this picture on Sunday we're pretty much done with everything except for the painting and "getting running" stuff.  Yes, typical stuff.

Anyway, we're looking forward to seeing all of the other crazies in just a few days!

We hope to be ready by the time the green flag drops.

We are the people your parents warned you about.

Re: CMP - Ready to go!??!!

We're ready to go.  Our car is up in North GA with a couple of teammates.  It feels odd to me not to be fiddling with the car each night for a few minutes.

Re: CMP - Ready to go!??!!

I've been burning the midnight oil for weeks, trying to transform the beat-up, worn-out Lincoln into a competitive Lemons racer. We never got the 5 speed installed, so we'll stick with running 2nd gear in the automatic. The good news is that Jay recognized our POS was indeed a POS, and gave us a low enough residual value that we were able to replace the blown shocks and fix our bushings. In addition, we basically rebodied the car, cutting the mangled sides off and replacing them with, ah, custom sides. We also gutted nearly 400 lbs out of the car, included some of the weight I had added back when it was just my $400 strictly stock dirt track car. We're keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that we can improve this time around...

Wow!  Custom sides.  That's funny.  I have a feeling that they're kind of like our "custom" bulkhead and sunroof.  We used this car as an opportunity to "learn" metal work.  We even bought a MIG welder!

Our Colt is ready this time, hopefully.  Maybe we will nto be plagued with problems this go around and actually get some seat time. Good luck to everyone and see you in a couple of days.

Your next big purchase should be a plasma cutter. Just hook it up to normal compressed air, plug it in, and voila! Instantly cut metal quickly and cleanly. My Miller 375 Extreme runs about $1200, but considering all the fabricating I do on cars, it's worth its weight in GOLD. It runs on 110 or 220, and cuts up to 1/2" steel.

Re: CMP - Ready to go!??!!

Team Please! Start! is almost ready. Just need to foam the cage and get this clunker on down the road. Our Plymouth Acclaim will be floating/meandering around CMP soon enough...

Goals for the Plymouth Acclaim : 1. Brake more 2. Break less

Hooray, an Acclaim!

So basically the MIG welder is a gateway welder.  It's a slippery slope!

Re: CMP - Ready to go!??!!

A Custom Continental, an Acclaim? (my early candidate for IofE), and a Milano (how did you not name her Alissa?)? What was I thinking, going for dependability with a boring old Acura?

drive it like it's sponsored

I hear you.  Our Escort is like the stealth bomber of the Lemons world.  No one sees it and it doesn't register on radar.
