I just love these old pick up truck based race haulers.  I think it goes back to the 1966 GMC that my dad used to use with the big 6 and granny gear 4 speed.  This one is awesome in that its got a sleeper compartment as well as all those tool boxes.  I'm reminded of the one Mooneyes has, based on a 1967 Chevy.

This one is in Colorado and they are asking $4500

6 MPG?!  Why so bad?  My 454 powered '96 Chevy 2500hd gets 8+ mpg towing a trailer.  It's hard to believe that the Ford hauler would be heavier!

Dunno.  Had one car on the ramp - 65 Chrysler New Yorker and one on the trailer, 65 Dart.   It just cost way too much to take to and from Mexico.  We haul w/ a F350 7.3.  But, in fairness we just bring one car at a time.  I've run out of racing friends.

That might be it, the weight of hauling two cars and the trailer and the added weight of the car hauler bits on the truck.  That's gotta be a few thousand pounds extra.

I only get 7 towing a 28' trailer with a 2400 lb. racecar using modern-ish technology.  (2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Hemi in it.)

Towing two cars was likely the culprit.

I get 6-8 on flat level ground with a 32 year old 440 powered RV. Granted climbing the Grapevine consumes nearly an entire 50 gal tank, but flying down the other side is nearly free!

Truth be told, I pulled that old truck into my friends jiffy lube in Chiefland FL.  I left it out back - bit by bit people stole parts off it till someone finally got the balls to haul it off.

It was a great idea on paper, a way to haul two cars and be skinny enough to make it thru old Mexican donkey streets in some of the far south towns.

But like all great idea's that make sense in the haze of scotch whiskey and cigarettes, the sun came up and spoiled the fun when I spent over 400 dollars to get the truck from Cocoa to Pennscola ,FL which is just 450 miles.
