Did I count 4? or was it 3? What caused them all? Glad everyone was ok.

WTF is going on in the South Carolina that cause you guys to burn stuff up?

Its HAWT down here
There were 4 that I counted. That's got to be some kind of record.
I thought it was the BBQ theme that they were going for.. just small fires. Not like the Kudzu one last time.
that makes 6 in 3 races, so if you average it then its 2 per race which is still pretty bad.
I loved how they got the Volvo back on track minutes after BBQ'n the better part of the engine.

The Tunachuckers bring the meaning of POS to a whole new meaning. Those guys are very dedicated, if not _the_ most dedicated I've seen at the CMP events.
The Tunachuckers are the model neighbors at any event. Great group of guys who understand the true meaning of Lemons racing.
Took more than minutes to get the Tuna can back out. I checked on them about 11:30pm just before I went to bed Saturday night. They had rebuilt the carbs, replaced some wiring and fuel lines, replaced a brake hose (apparently the cause of the fire) and who knows what else... and were CLOSE to starting the engine.
The Chuckers are still awesome, though! They did get the car back into the race.
The Fiat 124 caught on fire (bad fuel line fitting at carb)
The Amazon caught on fire (burst brake hose spraying exhaust manifold)
The Obamanation CRX caught on fire (thrown rod)
I think two others had fires, but can't recall which ones.
I figure there's a big difference between oil/brake fluid fires and gas fires! If everybody's OK that's the main thing.

The Amazon's brake fluid fire melted the fuel line hoses and immediately became a raging gasoline fire. That engine compartment was completely toast.
We had not one, but 2 calipers catch on fire....
Staying true to the 'nicest SOB's you ever met' theme, we were courteous enough to do it at the pit road exit and not inconvenience the other racers or flag/safety crew.
Who knew a ridiculously light VW Golf could be so hard on 23 year old stock brakes??

Amazon sells brake fluid???
Amazon sells brake fluid???
Yep, they sure do!

We avoided the inevitable fire by keeping the coROLLA in the pits when it was obvious that at best we would get two laps out of the car before we starting spraying oil everywhere..
You're welcome.
I dated an amazon once....she was just as incendiary....
