Topic: Theme cost

I didn't see anything about this on here, so it's probably really obvious to everyone but me. I just need clarify if the theme cost is part of the $500 value of the car?

I'm NOT talking about being "team carbon fiber" with a carbon fiber body as a theme...
I'm just talking about spray paint and stickers and little stick-on bits. Would that be counted against the $500 value of the car?

Thanks

Re: Theme cost

If it's not structural and doesn't add power, who cares?

Team Carbon Fibre... hmmmmmm

Drat! And Double Drat!

Re: Theme cost

Technically, the theme expenses count against the 500 bucks, but we'll probably look the other way for a non-lame theme.

Re: Theme cost

...and if the judges don't really like your theme, they'll give you spray paint cans and tell you change it .....  not that I'd know anything about that (LOL).

If you're going to paint your car black, mount real working rocket engines capable of propelling your car in excess of 1,000 mph and call it the "X-15", then yeah it counts.

If you're going to paint your car black, mount fake rocket engines capable of slowing your car down even further and call it the "X-15", then no it probably won't count.

Have fun with it either way.

Re: Theme cost

I'm pretty sure the judges would award bonus laps for real rocket engines.

It would be interesting to see Eyesore's expense report for their themes...

Re: Theme cost

if you stuck on a rocket that could propel your car to 1000 mph I'm sure they would totally let you pass bs inspection, Safety inspection would be your downfall.

That's the only reason I don't have one of these already strapped to the back of our car:

But if you include those costumes as part of your theme you are into it a lot more.
Of course you have one killer seamstress on your team.

Re: Theme cost

Costumes I can't see being counted as they definently don't have anything to do with the cars performance in the race, although attractive women in costume may help in distracting the judges during inspection.

Nope they don't do anything but distract the Judges away from the car. Hmmm...
Hey that's exactly why we wear them.:D

Re: Theme cost

Of course sometimes its easier to distract the judges if they aren't wearing a costume

Thankfully, no vanity plates. As for BMWs, Mike has an E36 which is cursed and I am looking to pick up an E24 and throw an S52 into it.
