Topic: Sorry Near Orbital Space Monkeys...

My bad.

I would have come over to apologize, but all I could remember was that it was a neutral-colored boxy thing.  I was pretty sure it was a BMW or Volvo.  If you have video, I'd be interested to see it from your perspective.

I don't think you have anything to apologize for there.

Re: Sorry Near Orbital Space Monkeys...

Agreed.  No apologies there whatsoever.  A little bit of rubbing happens once in a while.

Now here's something that warrants an apology

I moved inside of him rather late to pass on the inside of T3.  I hugged the right side of the track as much as I could but I guess he didn't see me coming?  So instead of going off to the right when he turned into me, I held it straight and gave it some gas.  Turned him right around........  smile

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Re: Sorry Near Orbital Space Monkeys...

Dave -- Not sure which team member was driving. Must have been early because our bumper was still on straight. smile I agree with the others -- I think both parties are a little at fault. The NOSM driver moved right, let the blue car through, then moved left to go around the slow right-side traffic. You followed the blue car through and bumpity-bump. No black flag (and neither car changed course much). All good.

I think a better move on our part would have been to spot the slow cars on the right going into the left-hander, set up to the left and stay there until the front straight.

Yeah, I saw the door open, and then it closed in a hurry.  As far as neither car changing course, ask whoever was in your car.  I managed to pinball them towards the inside of the next turn.  This should have been around 4 - 4:30.

I know it was just a racing incident - just wanted to give a little mea culpa and let you guys know where that white paint on your car came from.  Looking forward to running into you again next year!  tongue

Re: Sorry Near Orbital Space Monkeys...

We don't need no stinkin' door trim smile

I previous suggested setting some guidelines (not rules) to help us ignorant, inexperienced racers keep out of trouble, but it got hate and disgust.

Holy shit, that's our car! Not sure who was driving, but no worries man, no harm done. We doled out the PIT maneuver in the exact same scenario no less than 3 times on the Lamest Day.

Cheers

That was me in the big rocket engined thing. No apologies needed but thanks for the offer. That little love tap (I think we lost some trim) was the result of clear tape on the side view mirrors. You were not in my Wink mirror hence blind spot! Neither of us got called on it so no harm done. I did duck a bit because I thought that the side mirror was going to come hurtling into the window.

Somebody then gave me a bit of a bump draft (always helpful in a low HP car) but somebody eventually took off the rear bumper (one of our other drivers).

That was ME driving.    smile  I felt like an asshole when it happened because it was completely unnecessary- slow traffic and quite early in the race.  I remembered you guys had the ass of that 'stang in the air for most of the Toledo race last year, so that also made me feel like a dick.

Glad to see you guys finished fairly well at 39th!
