Northrup XP-79 Flying Ram. It was designed with very strong wings to be able to ram into bombers and shear off their wings.

Interesting that a magnesium leading edge on a prototype jet = battering ram to clip the wings of its opponents.
But a magnesium body on a racecar = lightweight death trap waiting to burn its occupant and spectators.
