HELL YEAH.

I'm so bored of "throw a small block/LS/2JZ/MEH MEH MEH in it."

You know what you should stuff in there? A gott dang 914 engine, or the V10 TDI out of a Touareg. Especially if a 924 is involved. A V10 diesel 924 needs to happen.

Re: Lemons makes up 20% of esteemed/dubious honors list

The world needs more absurd engine swaps.

Horizontally Opposed VW 12 Cylinder (VW bug motors X 3). 108 HP! I would say Corvair motor X 2, but I am financially opposed to that idea.

V12 Jag! ---> we only have enough fuel for about 45 mins.  I owned an XJS once.  That was enough.  6-cylinder, especially AJ6, I would consider.
GM 4.3 diesel! --->I really don't want to go slower than we already do!
PRV V6!

--->  Uh...no.  Would prefer to stay English....

Oh gawd, Spank just tried to talk me into buying a Stag.  The ad showed a typical weathered Stag with the engine sitting next to it.  I felt compelled to explain to him the exact reason why 90% of all Stags are in the same condition as the Stag in the ad he sent me.  He then shifted gears and suggested we buy back the diesel vette and put a Stag engine in it.  I mean, there's bad ideas and then there's ideas like jumping off the Golden Gate for fun.....

Ill-advised engine swap, you say?

Ignore the terrible music and simply appreciate the best thing that could ever be done to a V6 Charger.

Re: Lemons makes up 20% of esteemed/dubious honors list

I've threatened to give vw 1.6 diesel engines to numerous teams considering engine swaps.

coco, I also want to see a v10tdi in anything. unfortunately, they seem to not exist in the "parts car" market... hmm and would be an absolute nightmare. I'm also not aware of any manual transmission they bolt to but I could be wrong.

How about the helicopter turbine engine in the Triumph Spitfire? 350hp and 425 ft-lbs in a package weighing 50 lbs. less than the OEM engine/tranny.

Two small potential problems come to mind:

- My impression is there are 4,000 ways to start a turbine incorrectly that can result in it being broke

- I wouldn't want to be nearby when something turning at 30,000 rpm lets go

But remember, as James Brown once said, "the one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing."
