Topic: 53 Nash Metropolitan build...

The saga starts.  I'll be posting here with pictures as the build gets underway.   The first picture of the rusty carcass will appear soon... then onward and upward FTW!

Re: 53 Nash Metropolitan build...

Cool, my mother had one years ago and later I bought a '55 for just $250 and always intended to restore it but I had other projects and sold it because I lost my storage. It was a rare one too, a factory late-build '55 with the 1500 engine used in the '56+ cars (there were a few hundred cross-over cars built because they ran out of engines before they ran out of chassis). It will be very interesting to see how this build goes, good luck!

Re: 53 Nash Metropolitan build...

I have a friend in the north-east bay with a huge parts stash of Metros, I'll get a look at the pile and see if there is anything salvageable.

She loves the Lemons idea so parts would probably be more than fair/free.

Wow, that's a lot rustier than the one I had. Hope there's something strong enough to attach the cage to!

Motor looks ready to run!

Re: 53 Nash Metropolitan build...

run in a freezer maybe that slug is rock solid siezed, the entire crankcase was full of a chunky oil water mold mix, i wish i could hae gotten it running, it would be fun to seee the power it made and then we could ghetto boost it to death!

I remember riding in the package tray behind the seats in one my 6'6" uncle owned.  I was probably 5 years old.

That short wheelbase isn't going to handle very well.

Isn't that sort of missing the point of this exercise?
