We may have to have another wager. Who spits out what first - Imp spitting a rod or your variomatic spitting a rubber band.

I don't know how much more betting on the reliability of my Lemons cars I can afford. Or, for that matter, on that of my other cars.
Note to self: Review the Variomatic belt-changing instructions in English before departing for California.

Re: my ride...
I'm kinda short on funds and time, so I keep thinking about whipping this out.
I double-checked, and the tires are still properly inflated. Phew. Sometimes I forget to let the extra air out after an autocross, but it hasn't been to one in a while, so I should get poop for gas mileage regardless.
Re: my ride...
My worst case scenario if I cant get my Yamaha or Subaru up is to just drive my 01 Dodge 2500. Which after I upgrade the fuel system here soon, it will be boringly reliable with leaking power steering. Though that's better than being stranded in Death Valley.
Re: my ride...
Any idea how many of us are stupid enough to be doing this?
I have entered, booked rooms, and ordered parts to make sure car is road worthy.

Bah, you and Coco are taking the easy way out wife thought our Jag was beginning to look almost boring in the field shaping up so far. I may have a line on a '68 Galaxie 500 ragtop which would be CONSIDERABLY more Lemony. We'll see how that pans out...

My horrible advice would be to talk a friend or friends into joining you on this adventure. Everyone splits the cost of the rally, lodging, beer and a crapcan that y'all cage and race later.

I was joking around, bring the Dodge or whatever you got that runs... More a jest in general, don't let me give you the impression that you're not welcome because your vehicle is too "normal" for this run. Welcome to the madness!

Crap can has been found, there will be at least one likely tagging along, and if not, I'm definitely going to roughing it.
I completely understand the jest!

Re: my ride...
what motor and trans you got in your nashcan there?
and mine.
Re: my ride...
a pic of the Edsel...before work started in earnest. The motor is out, been taken apart, new rings and cam bearings installed, and it's back together. Waiting on a clutch disc, then I can plop it back in. Brakes are about 2/3 done. Still need to figure out what to do about the missing gas tank, I'm thinking a new one for a later model Ford would work, although I'd get to play around getting the filler neck to fit. An the driveshaft...gotta find a driveshaft...after I put the engine back in, and the "new" transmission, and do some measuring.
Re: my ride...
That sure is a neat little car, Tom!

Outstanding! The Y-block is an excellent choice for all forms of motorsports.
