I've been following the build and look forward to seeing this thing next weekend! I have a guess as to what the theme is.

Re: New Build

So I have a question, what brake pads are you guys running that aren't Carbotech or Hawk PFC's, I'm looking for something a tad cheaper than those guys and seeing as how it's going in a lighter car let me know what you think.

Dodged another bullet with the car in that while we were sorting out the head gasket problem we found out that the cooling fan wasn't working good thing I had a spare. Also while bleeding the clutch we found that the clutch rod was never tightened up Geeezzzzz. It never ends.

Re: New Build

So EBC yellows did great on the Saturn but only 1-1.5 races per fronts so are you saving money?

In the opposite direction, the Raybestos ST43 fronts on the dustbuster van did 4 races, including a 24 hour, and could have done one more.  They were about $260 a set shipped.

For the '48 Plymouth we are running the ST43's for the front but do easy to order Akebono (sic?) hybrid pads for the rear because they are rated for the temps we expect and rear pads last an eternity.  We also do not want our rear pads to be too effective because the front rear bias is not currently adjustable and the Plymouth is probably 600#'s lighter in the rear than the brake donor vehicle.

Re: New Build

Trying to save some money, the build has taken it's toll on my wallet, I was looking at some Akebono pads has anybody tried them yet?

We run the ST-43s also.  Expensive, but they indeed last multiple races.

Re: New Build

ST-43's did about 8 hours at Thompson and they look BRAND NEW still. Well worth the $230 vs. $110 for EBC's on the Mustang calipers on the front of our Merkur.

Monty at lpiracing.com was super nice to deal with, very Lemons friendly, highly recommend, etc.  smile

It's... (wipes tear)... Beautiful.

You did a build to be very proud of Steve. Everyone at CMP, give it lots of racing room.

I think it is an homage to a TV/movie car but I can't put a finger on what that is.

Of course! Thanks!
