Topic: Volvo C30 First car?

Teammate is thinking about a C30 as first car for his daughter.  Good/Bad cars?

Not bad or good...different.  They are on the second gen Volvo FWD platform. Great handling cars, lots of pep, useful hatch.  Unloved as they come in the US market so used parts are scarce.  All 2002+ FWD Volvos for a long time had ETB issues and ABS pump issues.  The first was replaced if failed under an extended warranty and there is an inexpensive exchange company out there.  Also a reasonable exchange company for the ABS pumps.

Your primary issue on these is if the kid is going away for college or work they need to locate a specialty independent mechanic and only use them for anything more than routine maintenance.  It is cheaper in the long run like with post W126 Mercedes.
