Re: CMP 24 Roll call!!
Team Old Dudes & the 1965 Ranchero will be there.
Can’t wait!
And no matter what rules and complications are necessary, we are still racing! That’s the Lemons way.

Bad Penny Racing will be there with a '77 Volvo 242 (#900). I'm driving with Ed White and his crew since most of my team declined the trip this year.
Anyone know if the pumps are working this year? If not, the 2-pump station right off the track will be really busy.
I was waiting for you to turn up, Stan

If you counted bunch of idiots from page one. We have a huge paddock space with these teams.
- 2nd gear racing, toyota celica
- Ralli fart, eagle talon
- SCCA two cars. Civic and B210.
- Race Jeep, 350z
Half of our terrible team with an untested car and doubtful ecm is in the 12hr.
90 Miata (used to have a rebel flag hood but that isn’t acceptable anymore)
I think our team name is Flu Fighters.
OMG. Race Jeep?
Is that a horrible idea for a race car or an amazing idea for a team name?
Unofficial tally for this post: 20 cars.
I cant wait to see the complete official list

Unless this is a different team from last year, think square-body Jeep Cherokee body, Lexus SC400 everything else. It looks bad ass ( low with side pipes) and it's damn fast too.

I don't have an official list, but counted 115 claimed race numbers on the registration page. That number is slightly down from a normal Fall CMP race, but way larger than I was expecting...
Dude that's brilliant.
You went through 1000 race numbers, and counted how many were missing. That is genius.
I started to do it too, and then just decided to trust your number

Someone created a way a while back to dump the list into Excel and have a formula count this missing digits.
Hahahahaha .
Look at this rookie, with pad and pencil
I'm so embarrassed
Hahaha
How crowded is a 100 car 2.3 mile race track?
How long before the attrition of the lemon sets in, an hour, 2 hours?
& on average How much of the field is lost to failure?

100 on Gingerman and Barber is not really crowded, it's kinda fun always someone to race.
Expect 20% to be out within 2 hours and maybe another 20% overnight.
At night more cars is better as the track is lit up better

100 cars on CMP full course is nothing. We ran over 100 cars on HALF the course back in 2007!

Yep. My first race was Fall 2010, 120ish cars on less than 1 mile of track. Something like 1 car every 40 feet. It thins out pretty quick.
And to be clear, I didn't count 1000 race numbers to get 115 claimed race numbers. I viewed the HTML source of the car details page, which populates the race number drop down box. Copied the race number list, pasted into notepad, deleted my race number and got the line count. Subtracted from 1000.

It is not. They bought a 350z and ran it at Road Atlanta. The car was a $1000 350z. Was the Dragonball 350z. The name is from the old owners instagram.

Sorry, my bad. Carry on!

With a chicane on the main straight don't forget.

OMG, yes, what a PITA that chicane was!
The highlight was when a certain driver (not me) had enough of a certain dive-bombing E30 team. They attempted to circumvent the single file line heading from T14 to the chicane by diving in front of the lead car lap after lap. Finally someone said "Nope, not this time" and ran them into the guardrail before the tires of the chicane. I was standing at the fence watching and I think everyone who saw it cheered as they finally got what they deserved. They eventually got the People's Curse for ass-hat driving and their car was subsequently crushed. Good times!

Thanks, Bob, look forward to meeting you.
It should thin out a lot after 2 or 3 hours, and a number of teams may stop after 12 hours. Guaranteed that a lot will be broken by then. VKZ24 is right about more cars at night is better. It helps a LOT, especially for the turns.
And I forgot to recommend trying to follow a car about your speed at night, especially the first half dozen laps or so. At MSR a couple years ago for my second Lemons race, I was delighted every time when passed by someone just barely faster than me at night. Especially when it was shortly before the carousel because that was a "stay on the gas, hold your line, and pray that you'll miss the exit lane curb again this lap" event every lap if you weren't behind somebody.
PS - If you Google Map "Carolina Motorsports Park", the picture that comes up is my car (the one we're not bringing this race). Green Beetle, number 221. We picked the number from the movie Mr. Mom, when Michael Keaton was asked if he was going to wire his shop 220 and he looked confused, then replied: "220, 221; whatever it takes".

93 is the final count.

Wonder what the split will be for the 24/12hr race? With 93 cars at the start, it’ll be lonely out there at 3:00AM
See you all next week!
Wonder what the split will be for the 24/12hr race?
Good question. As I understand it, you don't have to declare which option you chose until you go through tech/bs judging, although I can't imagine any team not knowing the answer before they arrive.
