Re: Helmet
No. It MUST be a true full face with a shield.

Re: Helmet
Thanks
I thought it may not have worked because of the lack of the full shield.

Re: Helmet
The easiest awnser is no, however you should be able to buy a full face helemt and just take the face shield off if you want to or just leave the visor open.
I sort of understand where some of this is coming on the hybrid/motorcycle style full face helmets. The bigges thing however is that many FIA and LeMans sportscar (closed cockpit) run with the helemts thtat do not have the visor as even an option but is not the motorcycle style with the flip up front face.
Re: Helmet
Sadly, it must be a full face i.e. with visor....IMO Snell SA hybrids are safer in a closed car, but I suspect there are insurance considerations requiring the visor...

Re: Helmet
Now that we have to have the visors down while refuelling, you really can't even remove it any longer.

Re: Helmet
Yeah, and since the helmet manufacturers (at least the ones I've talked to) state that the helmet isn't designed to be used at race speeds wit the visor up, there's gonna be an issue if someone gets hurt...and for refueling, I'll bet they're not certified for fuel contact either....Nomex balaclava and indirectly vented OSHA goggles would probably be safer...

Re: Helmet
Thanks for the replies guys
One of our drivers has a SA2005 helmet, but he'd liked to know if there are age limits for helmets. It's never had an impact - it's just older.
Re: Helmet
SA2000 and up
