Long story short: This was the least amount of attrition in a Lemons race since the fall Autobahn race in 2012 (where it rained literally all weekend). The PNW is out here makin' their crap run.
In 13 years, I've never seen the last-place car run so many laps (84...more than 1/4 the winning distance) and it's even more amazing because the field is so damn chock-full of legit garbage. So many best-ever finishes that it was clear a whole bunch of teams had their dream races in the same event. Some specific callouts:
- IWGF with the first Ford Probe win in Lemons since 2010 and the first Class B winner overall since 2019. They were total n00bs just five years ago. Lots of that going around and it's awesome to see teams grow into success.
- NachoFriend with the Class C win. They really didn't even know what a carburetor was when they started, so cool to see them go so far.
- Team Wankelr going from 27 laps in two races to 259 laps in one race. Awesome to see them staying on track.
- Radioactive's V8 Vega also running 166 laps, which was only good enough for 40th (of 43), but it was about 8 times as many laps as they'd run in two previous races.
- First-ever Top 10s for a bunch of teams: Tacocat's Subaru, Axehole's Neon (also the best Neon finish in two years), There Is No Spoon's Civic, and Can't Giddy Up's Miata (which was the 33rd quickest car).
- An EPIC IOE fight between a '47 Chevy and a Fiat X1/9.
- No doubt there are 30 more awesome team stories from the weekend.
I'm geeked for everyone who was there and for what the PNW brings next year.
