Topic: SOLD in CA: 1988 Fiero. Ready to race, but needs...

...an engine. The engine blew up at Buttonwillow last September.

Other than that, the car is ready to race.

Caged and passed tech at BW in October 2022.

  • Chris Overzet cage (who has probably built more Lemons cages than anybody other than TEO)

  • Seat and new belts installed -- 16" Kirkey road racing seat with comfy cover

  • Fire suppression system installed -- Lifeline Zero 2020 3 Liter Electric with temp switch, Will automatically turn on if temp in cockpit reaches 350 degrees

  • New tires -- Hankook R-S4

  • New brakes -- Raybestos ST43

  • New windshield

  • New aluminum radiator

  • Lots of spares, including trans, front subframe, wheels...

You engine options are really interesting. Anything that bolts up to a GM metric bell housing can work, from an Iron Duke to an LS4. Here's the list:

  • GM 60-Degree 2.8/3.1/3.4/3.5/3.9 L V6 (also used by AMC)

  • Buick 3300/3800 V6

  • Cadillac HT4100/4.5/4.9 L V8

  • Isuzu all 3.2 and 3.5L DOHC V6

  • AMC/Chrysler 2.5L I4 found in Jeep Cherokee, Comanche, Wagoneer, CJ and Wrangler and Dodge Dakota

  • GM Iron Duke/Tech-4 2.5L I4

  • GM "122" 1.8/2.0/2.2 L I4

  • GM 5.3L LS4 V8

  • GM High Value engine

Car is free. The cage ($2500), fire suppression ($900), seat ($500), belts ($125), and tires ($500), and brake pads ($400) are all you will pay for...before the Lemons Newcomer Discount. You can knock 50% off the price of all that stuff. Car is yours for $2500.

These cars are pretty well sorted. Well, this one isn't but, in general, there a very good Fiero knowledge base in Lemons. OK, one guy who does well with them, but he is a great guy and will probably help you out if you're not a jerk.

Car is already Wonder Woman themed. We will give you the capes to go along with the car. Sure fire shot at winning Halloween Meets Gasoline. Just say you bought all the stuff on eBay. (They seem to like the eBay mentions.)

Car is located in San Luis Obispo, CA, half way between San Francisco and LA. Come buy the race car of your dreams and enjoy the beautiful Central Coast.

Re: SOLD in CA: 1988 Fiero. Ready to race, but needs...

1988 is the year with the upgraded rear suspension
and you can put in a SAAB 9-3 TURBO ecotec engine too ..not quite plug and play, but people do it
$2500 seems like a cheap price for GUARANTEED DOMINATION

Love the idea of an Isuzu V6 swap. That is a fantastic idea.

If a buyer shows proof of purchase of an Isuzu DOHC V6 from any junk yard, I'll deliver the car within 300 miles for free. No, the car will still cost you $2500. The delivery will be free. That's from Sacramento to Oceanside to San Bernardino.

Here are some additional pictures of the interior:
