Topic: N00b's first impressions

I've sampled crack and it tastes lemony.

We've got our application in for the North Dallas Hooptie.  But since we have never attended a Lemons race, we decided to check out a race to see if it looked like fun before lighting several dozen ben franklins on fire.

I left at 1am on Friday from  San Angelo, Texas and got there at 8:45am, to see the paddock full of cars and the race beginning.  I brought my NASCRAP radio shack race scanner and found race control.  Positioned myself with my 10x binocs and scanner at the skeet shooting gazebo out near pit entrance, and was able to see 90% of the track.  Best seat in the house.

Scratch that, best seat in the house was watching the cars take the first set of corners on three wheels.

Best moment of the weekend, worth the 900 mile round trip, was the following, loosely transcribed radio exchange heard on the scanner:

"Race control, this is Turn X, we have a piece of garbage on the track. "
"Turn X, there are 125 pieces of garbage on the track."

ALLEGEDLY!

You've just heard one of the countless great quotes from Race Director Dan Radowicz.

Man, I can't wait to put my piece of garbage on the track at American Irony.

oh yea from him and scott some other ones from the weekend:

"car number xx is smoking..."
"its a vw, its supposed to do that"

"someone needs to black flag him so we can give him a physics lesson"

"rescue 2, can you close his hood, check his tires, and top off fluids since we give full service?"

"car x hit car x...."
"go ahead and black flag them both, lets hear both sides of this"

"if you guys know it's raining, why don't they?"

and my personal fav:

"corner 2 your port-a-potty is blocking line of sight can you move it please?"

overall it was fun listening to the radio while working. Hoping to be on the track next time
