Topic: N00b's first impressions
I've sampled crack and it tastes lemony.
We've got our application in for the North Dallas Hooptie. But since we have never attended a Lemons race, we decided to check out a race to see if it looked like fun before lighting several dozen ben franklins on fire.
I left at 1am on Friday from San Angelo, Texas and got there at 8:45am, to see the paddock full of cars and the race beginning. I brought my NASCRAP radio shack race scanner and found race control. Positioned myself with my 10x binocs and scanner at the skeet shooting gazebo out near pit entrance, and was able to see 90% of the track. Best seat in the house.
Scratch that, best seat in the house was watching the cars take the first set of corners on three wheels.
Best moment of the weekend, worth the 900 mile round trip, was the following, loosely transcribed radio exchange heard on the scanner:
"Race control, this is Turn X, we have a piece of garbage on the track. "
"Turn X, there are 125 pieces of garbage on the track."
