Topic: Looking for a 'fairly' race ready car in or near Houston, Texas. (MSR)

We are a new team with not a ton of wrench experience between us and are hoping to find a car that already runs well. However any lemon worthy car in the area would be great.
Please contact me at rorypilch@gmail.com or respond to this topic with any cars for sale or suggestions on places to find one in Houston

No. ~1500 miles is not close. Please keep replies within Texas.

He's probably trying to gauge your level of commitment, and to see if you've looked at _his_ car's listings.

[Separately, for _some_ in NYC (though not him), anything west of the Hudson River and South of Westchester County is like stepping into another country; kinda like for some in Texas ;-). Because actually, in my opinion: in both cases (TX & NYC), everything you could possibly need is likely already there.]

We have  a fleet in Lake Charles area that run, stop sometimes and pass tech. Prefer to rent out as I grow attached to each one. We have slow, real slow, super slow and dead slow. Four IOEs on the wall and four more coming maybe. stephenontheriver@yahoo.com

We would love to buy a car, no matter how slow, but we are only interested in buying, not renting. If you are willing to sell one of yours I would love to talk more.

Right now there is a 2009 Prius currently looking for an opening bid of $300 on the city of Houston's surplus site. Runs but missing fanbelt. Practically mint.

Look up the City of Houston's public auction pages and go roll the dice in the salvage yards. They post a list every week of the cars and if you see one that looks promising, dive in. Go on rainy days when people want to stay home instead of wander a yard full of cars. You might need to wrench on it, but that's kind of the beauty of Lemons is learning how to do so with junk you spent very little on.

Don't get your hopes up with newer cars and Toyotas and Hondas. People can resell those and the bidding war will put them past $500.

Or you know Craigslist and take your chance that this is real and not stolen.

We have a Miatia that we are bringing to Sebring, race ready!!! We will see. If it is running when we get back to Lake Charles, pay us for the safety stuff and come get it. Get back to you in 2 weeks. Stephen
