Topic: Gator-O-Rama Everybody Okay?

Seemed like there were more rollovers and fires than usual.  But from what I'm hearing, nobody got hurt.  Is that right?

Re: Gator-O-Rama Everybody Okay?

I asked Jay about the drivers in the t-bone/stuck throttle cable/rollover accident on Sunday and he said everyone was fine.

Toyota?  Maybe it was in a recall or something.  smile

Glad everyone was ok...

Pepe le Pew is running a *bit* rough, and there are some bad clunks in the suspension.  Driver is sore, but is fine otherwise.

Re: Gator-O-Rama Everybody Okay?

The two Mustangs involved in the major event were both fine. A little sore the next day but ok. The black 5.0's throttle cable jammed. I called bullshit til i saw for my self when they removed the filter element and the linkage on the holley carb was locked wide open. Must have been freaky and I can only imagine he panicked rather than hitting the kill switch.

Approaching Turn one the black car jammed and cut hard to the inside. He stated he was trying to avoid all the cars and aim for the tire wall but he wasn't fast enough and caught the front quarter of the Green stang. They both sapped side to side and as the black one slid it hit the gravel and rolled over. Both drivers got out and were walking around shortly after.

We spoke with them both a bit after the effect. Both teams were suprisingly civil considering the circumstance. Good men.

Re: Gator-O-Rama Everybody Okay?

The escort that flipped hit my rear and spun me, then the AMC?? T boned me scared the shit out of me for a second i thought the escort was going to land on top of me.
Don't know how it happened we were under a yellow. AMC had nowhere to go can't fault him.
The MGB was too slow we had no acceleration out of the corners. Were lapping in 2.48 IMHO car needs to lap around 2.28 to keep on a reasonable pace with the majority of the other cars.
Have to make a decision to re engine the MGB or beg to use the Mini again. The MGB parts are just no readily available enough to keep a HP upgrade reasonable ( and within rules)

Re: Gator-O-Rama Everybody Okay?

if we put a nissan in it i want the the one out of the sentra with the 92,000 penalty laps.
what do you think 73 MGB with 240 horse of SR20 ( DET of course) but we would have to redo the brakes, fuel system, transmission and probably the rear end, and then we would get 92,000 penalty laps

The AMC team has the video of what happened.  What we've worked out so far is AMC's need more speed and better handling, Escorts need to be wary of driving between traffic and tires that extend out from fenders, Miatas need to check their blind spots and MG's need to be away from a combination of the previous mentioned cars.

But this is why we have roll cages and a wealth of flagging.  Everyone is OK and that is the only important thing.

I watched the ZX2 knock the Miata's passenger mirror over somewhere around the bus stop. I like the zx2 guys a bunch, but they were over-aggressive and were playing bumper-cars with anyone around when he wanted to make a space to drive his car through. He divebombed me at the launch so I got to watch all this take place.

I was at the end of the pack that was coming up Pepe's tail pipe at that corner, and I was braking for apex and I watched the car roll!  At least the cage was strong and it righted itself!  You folks had your hands full with that car!  I hope you can race the car again - and thanks for beers while we were trying to fix our Mustang.  I wish our video was working as that would have been a riot to have on Youtube...maybe one of the approximate 5 cars between us got it.

Ouch.   Glad the driver is OK

Ditto. Doctawife was right behind it so I got to see the video, and it looked pretty darn scary. If I'd been in just about any of the roll-overs I think my race suit would need some, er, extra cleaning.

I concur ... I was right behind the e30 rollover.

The black Mustang passed the grandstands on the inside line with the engine screaming, and I thought to myself, "this corner will be interesting."  Glad to hear all were ok.

I'm still waiting for some clips of the e30 rollover to appear. I want to see if what I think happened is what really happened..

I saw it from the stands. He came into the turn too fast, caught his right front wheel on the inside of the berm just as the oversteer started, which really made him oversteer, and over he went. It was just about the exact sequence of the FX16 rollover that happened a while back, I forgot what race but it's on Youtube.
