Topic: Hatch removal?

I seem to recall that although it's not specifically mentioned in the Rules, that door removal is Not Considered A Good Idea. We plan to run our side doors but were planning to remove the rear hatch; is this acceptable?

Re: Hatch removal?

Rear Hatches are not required.

Lots of guys remove them for weight reduction.

We left ours in and I do not want to run without one.

Whether they have positive or negative aerodynamic affects is debatable but it worked for Shelby on the Cobra.

The biggest reason we keep a rear hatch is to keep exhaust fumes out of the car.

If your exhaust runs our the rear of a hatch back, fumes tend to roll back into the passenger compartment.
