only under power........we have tried really hard to REDUCE understeer which is SO typical in "race" 928's.....  we finally have it to a point where is neutral-ish most of the time...but if you push 100% it will push pretty bad...

It seems like that thing just cruises around the track, and you only put your foot into it when you're passing someone.

In comparison to the Wienermobile, which only wasn't under full power when braking or going into a turn.

I wish.....  it spent PLENTY of time wide open...but in an effort to save the engine...we were trying to keep the RPM's lower than last time (when it blew up in spectacular fashion)....  But  we still had it pinned...just short shifting at say 5000-5500....(redline is 6000)

It is pretty easy to drive......it pushes at the limit, but is easy to control... the open diff sucks...but makes for some great smoke shows for the fans!!  I finally am comfortable sliding the car around....which is a BLAST....but hard to do consistently with the open diff...

We don't start making good power until about 6000, and we shift at about 8000.

8000rpm in a 928 engine....your funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   BOOM..big time

We make our peak power right about 5500.....and it trails off from there...so in theory we should shift at 6000 of just past it to get the highest average HP....but I'm willing to give up say an average of 10whp through the powerband to save the engine.....once you take a 928 past 6000rpm....your really dropping its lifespan..unless you have properly built internals....

5 bearing crank, and forged rods from the factory. If we can keep cylinder heads together, it's a fun little engine!

Same for the 928....5 mains, but only 4 of the mains feed the rod bearings...the #3 main doesn't feed anything....which is part of the oiling issues, since most V8's cross feed the rod bearings....

some 928's have forged rods & pistons...but most are cast...you would think a short stroke engine 78.9mm would rev higher...but it doesn't....oddly enough its a torque motor....

5 mains on a 1.5L engine sure is beefy.....  Do you know what size the mains are?....the 928 crank is HUGE.....70mm mains and 57mm rod bearings....crazy..but it also has a 122mm bore spacing...only 1mm less than typical big blocks..

...cept we have half the number of cylinders you do. wink

X main bearing are 54mm, and 48mm rod big-ends.  The bottom end of the motor is pretty much indestructible.  Believe me, we've tried!  (and succeeded at Thill 09)
