Topic: LeMon's Baja

Who's with me!?!?!?!?!

Rangers and Toyota's as far as the eye can see...
Chevy Pups and Jeep Commanche's by the wayside...

IOE winning Leyland Mini95's and Studabakers FTMFW!!!

One race to build them all...
One race to run them all...
One race to blown them all...
...up in big clouds of smoke and dust...

Re: LeMon's Baja

It'd be no contest - yota 4x4s sporting 22res would own that race.  Of course the $500 limit might make it a bit tough to pass bs.  Need some tequila taped to that solid front axle and fox triple shocks.

Re: LeMon's Baja

I'd bring a Lada Niva and have the Comrades from Nelson Ledges join the team...

Re: LeMon's Baja

There is a race like this that exists already and is held each year in Ocotillo Wells, CA. Its an underground race called the Miraposa 500. Google it and check it out.

Here are a couple links:

I will post details on this years race for you guys when it comes around. Lemons cars would fit pretty good.

Holy cow... How have I never heard of this? Ocotillo Wells is only an hour from here, and I've already kinda performed my own version of it there in my old Omni GLH.....

Re: LeMon's Baja

Try this!  www.calderapromotions.com  This is as close as it gets to road racing in TJ and they are serious and have big crowds believe it or not. Once again you still have to deal with the crazy honda drivers but honda to rabbit racing is about even. We run this race as many times as we can for the last 6 years.

Re: LeMon's Baja

That Mariposa 500 looks interesting, but they are VERY secretive about any of the details. It seems like it was run around this time last year, but any posts that request info or worse yet provide it are swiftly edited or deleted on those forums. How's an outsider supposed to play?

Nope.  The "rules" say no trucks.  I think it's the wife's TDI VW Beetle.

Re: LeMon's Baja

You're going to drive something you actually care about? Have you seen what happens to the cars in this race?

Pendejo Engineering "Captain" - 1991 Alfa 164
1983 Shaguar XJ-S V-12 "The Two Ton Miata"
1995 Mercedes S600 V-12  - First car ever CLAIMED by JAY!
1980 Maserati Quattroporte - Judge's Choice

Re: LeMon's Baja

Sounds like a race for the sChITROEN.

"Bump? What bump?"

Hmmm.

Re: LeMon's Baja

Our MGB does quite well off-road.

This could be the beginning of something beautiful, in a smokey chaotic way.

"Real ZomBees prefer Bacon"

MRolla, Stick Figure/Animal House, Free Range MR2, SAAB Sonett, "The Death Flip"
2008 Exoskeleton Jag Fiasco, Concours d Lemons - Rue Britannia, worse British car.

Re: LeMon's Baja

Hmm.....since "normal" Lemons races are getting SO civilized these days...maybe we could make a RALLY.....just on a smaller course....many tracks around norcal offer various types of rally courses...in the dirt around the track....

The ultimate would be some type of hybrid...1/2 road course 1/2 dirt course...but I don't think many tracks would take kindly to getting that much DIRT all over their track on purpose.....

Sounds like a Lemons Rallycross.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rallycross

This is a legit race series in Europe. Probably better than a true off-road race since you could use cars that are mostly stock and won't need to do as much suspension work. I'm thinking bolt some plywood skid plates on your lemon car and raise the ride height back to stock.

Re: LeMon's Baja

Ok.  We're in.  Where?  Switch out the front beam with my 9 Car and re-adjust the rear torsion bars.   Race Prep Done.
I don't know if it would be fair against a typical Lemons car?  I would kinda feel bad passing and administering a love tap on a Miata or E30 in the Whoops.  Well ok not really.
Funny I set the car up to use as a pre-runner from day one for my 9 car and a buddies 10 car.  Never expected to race the thing at more than one Lemons event.
I'm so all over this HELL YES.

Organizer's Choice Houston Yee-Haw Its Lemons 08', DNF Houston Yee-Haw Its Lemons 09'
