I cut my roof off due to a 6'9" driver also roof was crushed due to a tree .

How high does the windshield need to be ?

I just saw others cars with no roofs and wanted to see what passed .

I didn't want to bug nick .

the windshield isn't required, but you'll be miserable if it rains.

for safety's sake you want a good 4" of clearance before your helmet hits the cage on the tallest driver.

We run with no roof and a shorty lexan swindshield.  All of our drivers look over the windshield when looking down the track.  The only time I look through the screen is at a corner apex.  The windscreen deflects most to the wind up off you chest, but you still get a lot of wind in your face.  The benifit is low weight, low cost, and we stay cooler on hot days.  The downside is cold and rain.  We had to weather proof the dash, computer and gages.
