Topic: Roll Cage Fire Extinguisher Mount

Thought I'd post this since this is something that every team runs into when doing their build: where to put the fire extinguisher?

I can't take credit for this, but I have built one using the website below as a go-by  and the parts that he describes from McMaster-Carr and it is easy, cheap, and effective:

McMaster-Carr has the clamps in 1.5" diameter too for the smaller cage tubes and they are something like $2.50 each.

Re: Roll Cage Fire Extinguisher Mount

That's a nice arrangement.
I'll have to take a picture of our mount-- quick work with bending and drilling some aluminum flat-stock so it bolts right into the holes originally used for the inboard slider for the passenger seat. Easily reachable by all of our drivers even while strapped in.

Re: Roll Cage Fire Extinguisher Mount

So why don't people hose clamp the mount to the rollcage?

We won the IOE at Southern Discomfort.
We got screwed at The Real Hoopties of New Jersey  and we took cars down with us.
We got the curse at Capitol Offense but they wouldn't let us destroy the car.

Re: Roll Cage Fire Extinguisher Mount

We weld the mount to the floorboards on the passenger seat slightly in front of the driver.  Easy to spot, reach, and remove if it's needed.  Reaching back behind to the rollcage would add an additional step to the process (albeit a small one), imo.

That would be a nice addition if you have a dash bar.

Re: Roll Cage Fire Extinguisher Mount

i played around with different positions when setting up for our car. Ultimately it's bolted in to the trans/exhaust tunnel(for our front driver) on the passenger side with the bracket almost directly downward from the driver's chest. Basically anyone sitting in the car who doesn't have freakishly short arms for their height can reach down without looking and undo the bracket.
