Re: Tire recommendation
We bought the HTR200s in 225/50R-15 for our Jag for about $85 a piece. Would have loved to get Star Specs or Azenis in that size, but they don't exist. We won't know how well they handle or last for another month and a half.

Yeah .. Sumi makes the HTR200 in 175/50/13 for about $48/ea. I think Mini Mania still carries a Falken in a 165/60/12 as well.
Problem with Falkens (in 10 and 12" sizes) is they don't have DOT approval or treadwear ratings. At least the 10" yokos we're running have DOT approval. But no treadwear rating (10" and 12" aren't required to have treadwear ratings because they rotate so quickly running over the same patch of rubber more frequently that any numbers they would give would be severely distorted). The same rubber compound used in a 16" tire versus a 10" tire would result in a HUGE difference in treadwear rating given the current method of calculating it.
Spank, order these. You're in a classic Mini. I'm sure the judges would look the other way.

Or, if not, what about the 300TW A539's in the 175/50/13?
I was thinking of getting Dunlop DZ101, which are about $65/ tire with 300 tread wear, but then I found Nitto Neo Gen for about $70/ tire with a 280 treadwear.
Doe anyone have track experience with either of these tires?
We ran the Nitto NeoGen on the Cavalier for a couple races. Run lots of pressure (~40 psi) and they won't flop off the rims (or feel like it, anyway). They lasted an entire weekend, but were 2-ish sec/ lap slower than the Azenis. But they lasted well.
