Topic: Roll bar padding question

The rule mention padding in the title of one section, but then doesn't mention it in the text.

What do I need to install? I've looked at the Summit Racing page (http://www.summitracing.com/search/?key … &dds=1) and I see SFI and non-SFI, 0.5" thick and 1.0" thick, etc. SFI and 1.0 would be better, it seems, but are there places or situations where the 0.5" stuff will work?

Also, I figure we need to install it anywhere the driver could contact the cage, so this would include around the head, the door, and down near the feet where the cage is welded to the floor, but not the bar behind the wheel/dash (where there once was a dash).

Re: Roll bar padding question

we padded the dash bar near the steering wheel - just in case.

Re: Roll bar padding question

Thanks for all the positive input  However we ended up not buying any pool noodles  we did however use basic padding from Summit racing for areas less likely to be contacted.   For the contact area we bought fire resistant high density foam from Dynamic systems. I read about them on one of the posts.  http://www.sunmatecushions.com/index.php We are also using it to pad our different size drivers.

Re: Roll bar padding question

Thanks. The link to the older thread was very helpful. It looks like what people do is buy the high-density SFI-rate padding for around the helmet area and something cheaper for all other areas around the driver.

Question, are these pool noodles? Link: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KIR-99001/

And, this is what I'm getting for the helmet areas - link: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-590102/

Re: Roll bar padding question

The ones you linked to are perfectly acceptable for Lemons, but most of us use them away from helmet contact areas and use the SFI padding for the critical zones.
