Topic: Fuel question

We have a 1990 Mazda RX7,
How much fuel in average is consumed on a weekend?

Any comments or recommendation is very much appreciated.

Re: Fuel question

Depends on your motor and RPMs.  In the coROLLa we used 3 gallons/hour at Summit.  At CMP we used 4-5 gallons per hour in a V6 Citation.

Re: Fuel question

Thank you.
We estimated about 72 gallons for the weekend.

Re: Fuel question

Rx7s will use over 10 gal an hour under racing conditions (raced one in the NASA 25hr 5 times)   maybe less in a Lemons race, but rotarys are thirsty!

Re: Fuel question

72 gallons should get you the 1st day!!

I would say the most fuel efficient racers out there are 5 gallons an hour.....the worst are well worse than 10 gallons an hour.....

Its always better to estimate too much gas, then give your team a refund....than be scrounging for gas on Sunday!

I appreciate you've been doing Lemons for a while and  have been posting here quite a bit, but to us noobs, "filthy" doesn't mean much.

Is that a dirty Miata? A horse? A lifestyle? Your bathroom?

A stock rotary is going to drink V8 levels of fuel and Yugo levels of oil.

Re: Fuel question

We were burning at or slightly less than 4.5gph in our 1.8 16V Scirocco at ECR (which is probably 50-60% WOT per lap).

Re: Fuel question

Our Camaro sucks down about, 8 gallons of gas per hour.  Maybe we need to build a 4 cylinder car for next year??

GM considered a 4cyl Camaro. What could go wrong?

Re: Fuel question

GM BUILT a 4 cylinder Camaro/Firebird...  I had a '84 Camaro w/4 cylinder.  At least it had a 4 sp manual trans and not an auto.  Friend had a 4 banger Firebird with a 5sp.

The Cavalier (r.i.p.) burned 6-7 gal/hr depending on traffic and yellows. That was a v6.
