Topic: I have too much stuff!!

Truck, enclosed trailer and car.

All crammed full of my stuff.
I feel like I'm moving to a new house.

That's what everyone at the track is hoping.
That you bring all of your stuff so they don't have to bring theirs.

Re: I have too much stuff!!

i am a field tech that runs warranty calls, and i feel the same way.

1) 1000' box of Cat5
2) Networking Toolbag (toner, tester, splitter, punchdown tool, bags of plugs, ghetto butt-set, etc)
3) open box with cheapo precision screwdrivers, imaging CDs, some fluids for the car, business cards, spare modems for 4 different ISPs
4) open boxes of random sizes/shapes from warranty calls that have no return airbill

-shoes
-half empty tub of cheetos?
-spare new keyboards (both usb and ps/2)
-spare mice
-spare tire? (rimshot!)
-stroller
-backpack
-box o' rags from autoparts store

right now there's a fishing tackle box with spare resistors and diodes but i just keep it in for the voltmeter...which i fished out and took back into the house...why the hell am i keeping it in there?

-spare workshirt
-umbrella
-hats (both Indy500 ones)
etc
etc...

Re: I have too much stuff!!

I finished loading up everything except the stuff that goes in the back seat of the truck.

Now I get to relax.

Do you guys bring a lot of spares?
I'm bringing more than I ever have this race and hope to use none of it other than a set of brake pads.

Re: I have too much stuff!!

If you don't have a parts car, you've underpacked.

Re: I have too much stuff!!

I had a parts car... I stripped it and sent it to the mill.

I picked up a rolled 'filthy' a few months back.
Got loads of spares!

Re: I have too much stuff!!

Our team brings 4 big blue totes, which includes full suspensions front and rear.
One complete  "Running" engine with transmission bolted on for a complete swap.
This is just what's in the back of the truck. The trailer has the car and every kind of
widget you can think of. We end up being the "go too" team for all of the other MR2 teams
that need parts at the track. At Sears one team came by and picked up a full set of  rear struts/coils
Did I say running engine, we made the mistake of bringing a spare engine that had a hole in the piston, a lot of good that did us.

Re: I have too much stuff!!

Luckily, my truck is already over the limit when I tow trailer + car + team, so spares are basically out of the question.

Re: I have too much stuff!!

Bill and I were finishing up a few things last night and piling up stuff to take. Yes lots of stuff. Tool boxes, grinder, drill, welder, parts bins, wheels, transmission, chairs, propane burner and 15 gallon kettle for boiling corn, coolers, drivers gear. Then we went to the gas station to fill up.

165 gallons of fuel. 4 barrels and 9 jugs, man, that's a lot of fuel. Yup, special fuel for Lemons racing.  Look for the ADM logos in the pits!!!

Most project cars are done a torque-wrench and WD-40.

It's a Lemons car if your most important tools are a 20lbs sledge and a blow-torch.

Yee-Haw 2013 No trophy -26 laps, I think I see a pattern here

Re: I have too much stuff!!

After catching a ride with Mulry I realized how unprepared I was. I drew up a 6 page packing list. I categorized packing the car, packing tools (down to which tools go in the toolboxes), packing fluids & tapes, packing spare parts, packing individual gear, and packing team gear. If anybody wants it, I can email a copy. I'd attach it as a text file, but I don't think the forum's code allows it.
