Topic: quick helmet question

I bought a new GForce Eliminator from Summit the other day, on their web site it states the helmet is SA/2005, at least it did last week when I ordered the helmet. However now that I have it in my hands the sticker on the inside says SFI 41.1/2005, Is this going to be OK or do I need to exchange it? I just want to double check everything BEFORE I get to the track.

Re: quick helmet question

Poke around some more. Those helmets are certified for both. Check under the liners up around the top of your head (yeah, they're probably stickytaped down. Just peel it back, you won't hurt anything).

If it's missing, get in touch with G-Force.

Also, remember M2005 is not SA2005 - M2005 is for motorcycles and will not pass.

Re: quick helmet question

Yes I know this. I swear on my life that I saw the SA2005 rating on their site for this helmet just last week. In fact I made sure of it when I talked to the customer service rep when I ordered it that it was a SA 2005 helmet. So it gets here today an the sticker INISIDE says SFI 41.1/2005 and the another says M2005. I went back to the site and now a bunch of helmets have different ratings than last week when I ordered this one. For instance, the Simipson Bandit now just says "Snell SA" and there is an RCI that I was considering that now just says "Snell M". I have researching helmets for a couple weeks I KNOW for a fact that I was looking at SA 2005 helmets. I suspect there was an error on their site, but when I mention that the rep said that was not possible (of course). I have no problem that they made an error, it happens. I now have a Simpson V Sport on order and will be returning the G Force as I don't think it fly for Lemons. Man I am glad I did not wait until the week before the race to deal with this.
This is the exact helmet I was sent.

Re: quick helmet question

Yeah, if you want the G-Force helmet you need the Pro Eliminator, not the non-pro Eliminator. That SFI rating is tricky, but the important thing for Lemons is the Snell rating, as that's what tech is looking for. I have a Pro Eliminator helmet and it does the job fine so far. Haven't really tested it, fortunately. smile

Re: quick helmet question

No worries, I am exchanging it for a Simpson that I know 100% is SA2005.
