Topic: Crew Signup - Houston

I've got a buddy who is going to help me with to-track and from-track driving since I live 8 hours away from MSR Houston and will be leaving San Angelo after 5pm on Friday.   That's a long ass drive.

I guess we need to sign him up in advance as a crew member? Do I have to do that in advance or can I just register him when I check in as a driver?

Re: Crew Signup - Houston

I think you can register him at the track.

He can probably just be a spectator.

The database closed yeasterday, so it is probably too late to add anyone, but he can still get a spectator's band. He just won't be able to work on the car.

Sure he can roll it on and off the trailer when you arive/leave, refill your gas jugs, pick up parts/beer/ice at the store, but just not touch the car.

Yee-Haw 2010 "Most Heroic Fix" & "I Got Screwed" -2 trophies for 1 lap, but I took checkered on my lap.
Gator-O-Rama 2012 "Organizers Choice" -2 laps 1 trophy, but i still finished ahead of an E30
Yee-Haw 2013 No trophy -26 laps, I think I see a pattern here
Gator-O-Rama 2014 "Waiting for the Last Minute Call from the Governor Award" -who's counting? John

Pfft, 8 hours is nothing! Try 12, going over Donner pass hauling your sorryass car behind you in a blizzard. THAT is ... exciting!

I see your pffft and raise you.....17 hours, straight, in the Wartburg, in the rain, with no wipers.

Departed from NJ headed to Alabama at 3am.  Averaged 70-75mph the whole time...oh and the motor was just pulled from a junkyard and installed that morning smile

My teammate Jeff said it best when replying to Jay's comment that we all seemed so calm in the pits at Lemons.
Our usual M.O. is to be on the side of a road, with limited tools, no support car, no RV/Hotel/etc, no trailer to drag us home if we fail.  Sitting in the pits with all those comforts makes it seem easy.  Seriously, you guys need to test your fortitued and run on BABE sometime too....preferrably with your Lemons cars smile

It develops over time, you're racing at Lemons...your insanity will grow strong within you.

Missive From Lemons HQ:

The crew guy can come whenever--he just needs to tell the gate guy that he needs a crew, not a spectator pass. It's a different wristband that allows him to work on the car.

You'll have to take care of it at the track. It'll be better if the driver comes on Friday--otherwise he'll need to pay the $20 spectator ticket price to get in the gate, and then register as a driver once inside. It's the fear of commitment surcharge.
