Topic: Three is enough

Thanks for a fantastic weekend! Our team had a blast and really had some great paddock neighbors.  we still can't believe our Metro pulled one off.  We were kinda hoping for the index of effluency award but now think we need a new class.  Index of efficiency.  We completed 464 laps which works out to 677 miles and burned 33 gallons for an average of 20 miles per gallon.

Re: Three is enough

Index of efficiency. I like it.

Re: Three is enough

The stock motor CRX HF did over 20mpg at gingerman

Re: Three is enough

that's strong. We had little choice but to 3rd gear it around the track.  tried 4th under caution but could not accelerate when going green again.

Re: Three is enough

Wasn't the Index of Effluency and pun on a classic Index of Efficiency?  I guess it may have been called the Index of Thermal Efficiency back in the day.  (far before my time)

Lemons South 2008 - Fail, Lemons South Spring 2009 - Fail, Lemons Detroit(ish) 2008 - Fail, Lemons South Fall 2009 - Fail, Lamest Day 2009 - Fail, Miami 2010 (Chump) - 2nd!, Sebring 2010 (Chump) - Fail, Cuba 2010 - Crew Chief, Roebling 2011 (Chump) - 8th!, Sebring 2011(Chump) - 19th!

Re: Three is enough

The Lancia... errr.. MR2.... whatever... refueld four times... only twice completely all weekend... In the Mark VIII it that would have been in the first four hours!

Re: Three is enough

Not anymore, Tom. Remember, I just spent beaucoup bucks on that 22 gallon SFI fuel cell...

Re: Three is enough

32 gallons isn't legal, or we would've saved the money and used that. The rules say 24, but I couldn't find a proper 24. 22 gallons is most common, and I snagged the new one on Ebay for cheap.

One of the big hp teams at T-hill mouthed off that they burn 12 gl/hr. 255ft/lb and 205hp.

how long was the flame coming out of the tail pipe?

Yee-Haw 2010 "Most Heroic Fix" & "I Got Screwed" -2 trophies for 1 lap, but I took checkered on my lap.
Gator-O-Rama 2012 "Organizers Choice" -2 laps 1 trophy, but i still finished ahead of an E30
Yee-Haw 2013 No trophy -26 laps, I think I see a pattern here
Gator-O-Rama 2014 "Waiting for the Last Minute Call from the Governor Award" -who's counting? John

Re: Three is enough

That sounds like the V8olvo.

I didn't see any flames. The "Estate" Porsche was shooting flames when it ran T'hill in 2009, until the motor died on Sunday.

Re: Three is enough

yep ovlo8v.
Extrapolate our 55hp at ~3.4 gl/hr and you get ~12.6 gl/hr, so it's probably true.
The Porsche 917-30 was commonly called a "SuperTanker" with 400 liters of fuel and it got a remarkable 3.4 mpg... for 1100-1300 hp.
