Topic: Techs giving cars smiley faces

Has anyone else out there seen or have had a tech draw a little smiley face on their car during tech inspection? At our last race at CMP one of the techs did just that on our door number. I figured it was just his own little sign of approval, apparently I was wrong. While waiting in line for BS, Jay walked by and offered to give us zero laps on the spot since the line was long, that was until he spotted the little smiley face. He said "Techs only give these to cheater cars... pop the hood".

I've been involved with this series since 07 and not once have I heard of such a thing. So is this a common occurrence that I was just unaware of, or did Jay just pull this out of his hat?

Might have been something they worked with the guys at that race.  Something so they would know to take a look at that car.

No, we were not cheating, all we had done since our previous race was add a set of strut tower braces that had been donated to us. I guess seeing a supercharger under the hood automatically makes people think "CHEATER!". tongue Jay took much delight in making us sweat for a few minutes while looking over the car and asking us questions, but in the end he still wound up giving us zero laps.

And since we were already in line we decided to just wait and let Phil inspect it again since he had been waiting to see the car in person for a long time. He did the same to us that Jay did and he also wound up giving us no laps. The last half of Phil's inspection actually was captured on video.

Now I'm really confused.  We got one at CMP too, and our car is so far from cheating its actually funny.  Maybe it was the upper strut bar that was on the car when we bought it?  Or just the fact we have a civic?
