Re: Long lost Tyrell-Corvette-Peterbuilt on ebay
I've punished a team for 6 wheels off before.

If Speedycop doesn't win the auction, there's only one choice:
Build a better one! 10 wheels?
10 wheels: 5 on each end.
So if only one side of the vette went off, would they still be subject to the 4 wheels off penalty?
I am giddy with anticipation to see this thing on the track.
My biggest concern, besides all the obvious, rational stuff, is how will it negotiate any relatively sharper turns? If Thunderbolt is the NJMP track, the Devil's Elbow could be epically disastrous..not to mention pit out.
Can. not. wait.
I'm hoping to see a 12-wheeled, left-hand-drive car. And by "left-hand-drive," I mean that only the left-side wheels are driven.

Hmmm. Maybe, but that's quite a few wheels to add to a Rolux VB-60.
Only 27 minutes left in the auction. This is going to be epic. So very, very epic.

How about track steered? You know, like a bulldozer.
5 minutes, 2550.
Sold at $4494
Wow, screw that. $4500? hahahaha
if not for jalopnik I bet it could have been had for $1100

Yeah, really. There isn't $4500 worth of parts there - and the only kind of person willing to spend that sort of money on this sort of car isn't going to be the kind of person that can make it work anyway.
I'd almost be willing to bet that there is BS and shill bidding involved-- probably won't sell to the original "winning bidder". Not saying the seller had anything to do with it, but too much publicity to not get someone out there throwing up F-you bids.
That said, however, it appears the second bidder is also the winning bidder. Let me remind you of something that was posted earlier:
BTW, I bid earlier, just to show I was serious..
He's oddly silent, too...
Yeah, where is that guy? He scammed 5 people out of $500 each, then disappeared!

You certain about that?
I had several LOOONG talks with the seller. There was interest in this car both here and abroad. Mother of the deceased builder claims $60-100k invested. I'd say more like $10-20k, but probably 1,000 hours of labor as well.
So ... did you get it??
Yeah, where is that guy? He scammed 5 people out of $500 each, then disappeared!
Sorry, I don't believe that; not one bit.
So when do you pick it up?
So, I had about $4500 in mind as my limit. We won the car for $4494, so while it was much more than I'd hoped to spend, it was doable. I'm trying to price shipping services, but if I can't get it shipped for $700 or less, I'll just go get it (14 hours each way). I'm working out payment arrangements with the seller now. The five guys who put up $500 each in blind faith made this possible, so thank you all!
For me, two grand plus shipping out of pocket is gonna hurt, but I'll make it happen. I liken this car to the Pearl of Great Price in the Bible (Matt. 13:45-46) . It's worth it to me to sell off other toys and scrimp for a while to get this thing. With any luck, we can turn it into a serious rolling advertisement for www.speedycop.com. I'm gonna be taking tons of detailed photos once I get it home, so you'll know better what we're working with.
The GREATEST Lemons CAR OF ALL TIME, presently code-named G.L.C.O.A.T. (get it? gel-coat, fiberglass), is a GO!

Awesome. Congrats (or condolences?) Jeff.
Both are in order, I'm sure.
You certain about that?
Well, I was. Not the first time I've been pleasantly incorrect.
I absolutely CAN NOT wait to see this thing on the track. I imagine you have some really hilarious phone calls to shipping companies coming, too.
So are we getting rid of the Win a Wartburg and starting a new forum?
Won a 8 Wheel Wankle
More like overpaid for an 8 wheeled LeMon.
Phil, can I move into your van...
...down by the river?
Oh hell yeah! Dance, dance, dance. If only something like this could've happened with the whalemobile.
You have a $25 Paypal donation coming your way. It's the least I can do.
