472/500 intake and exhaust manifolds swap on for an easy power increase. I think it can also take an early 472 cam for more power. It has an HEI, which is a bonus. Also has an electronic Quadrojet, which some people consider a problem, but I like 'em. The timing chain cam gear is plastic coated, so you'll want to replace the set. You can get hot-rod parts at www.500cid.com, but they'll put you over the budget limit. You can rebuild the motor cheap buying parts from www.summitracing.com and www.fastengineparts.com. There are good Cadillac forums at www.500cid.com and at www.cadillacpower.com.

No, no- the Northstars have been reliable, as have the HT4100s. The brakes and transmissions, no, but the engines have been fine.
We've only seen a couple of the old-school Cadillac V8s, but they've done very well. This one took the Index of Effluency!
Atleast cooling wouldn't be a problem with the ginormo grill and rad out front. And the suspence would be kinda iffy bbeing in just doesn't go up and down but side to side.
Get one like they used in USA Top Gear...Gi-normus boat with a 500ci engine.....but you would be required to jump it further than they did on top gear!!!!
The Cadillac I most want to see (after the Allante) is the early-80s Eldorado Biarritz with stainless-steel roof. Team Ace Rothstein!
