Topic: Question re: new bumper rule

Our car was in a slight front end wreck prior to purchasing, which is something contributes it to being lemon-y, however, in the process the bumper was tweaked a bit. I wasn't too worried about it until I saw the new rules about modified crash structures. I know what the intention of the rule is, but wanted some feedback on ours to make sure we're legit.

Basically the "crush can" on the front of the frame rail that the bumper attaches to was bent downward and pulled away from the weld a bit on one side:

Will this fly or do we need to look into a junkyard repair?

Re: Question re: new bumper rule

I think that's fine within the spirit of the rule.  The rule is there to make sure you dont cut major portions of your car away.

When in doubt email Jay or Nick.
