Topic: Car value question

If you could sell the seats, cat conv, airbags and misc. item for 1500 from a 2000 car is it a legal lemon?

Re: Car value question

Yes, but prepare for the judges to have their way with you.

Re: Car value question

In theory yes, but it still has to pass the sniff test.  Chances are good that a $2000 car won't do that.

What are these new fangled things you speak of?  Cat conv and airbags???  A REAL LeMon didn't even come from the factory with seatbelts and certainly was not designed to run on unleaded fuel.  Sounds like you are looking in the wrong decade.

Re: Car value question

Yes it's legal and it goes a little better if you start with a $500 dollar crapcan and manage to sell $1500 worth the useless crap off of it. But you better have thorough documentation to prove it either way. I would reccomend the person or people who were on the project directly and the most to do the talking to the judges.

Re: Car value question

Just remember: The Judges are always right.  Documents, forged or otherwise, will help your cause.   You may as well put a couple dents in it, it's going to happen sooner or later.  They really look at after market suspension and engine upgrades.  Home made go fast, working or not, stuff makes them smile, ie: the leaf blower turbo option that came on several slow ass POS's.  When all else fails, Good Scotch falling out the door may distract the Judges just long enough to close the hood before they find all your BS.

Remember this is a fun race and don't take yourself too seriously and The Judges are always right.
